There are green and magenta vertical lines in a pattern showing up on all my photos. It's definitely the sensor as it is consistent with all my CF cards. I tried resetting the camera. I took the battery out and back in again. Does anyone know what the cause is? I imagine it's some sort of sensor malfunction. :( Help!
Hi
Given its age - almost 10 years now, while you don't want drama you can expect them.
I had same probs with a Sony - green and yellow lines - then later on a horizontal split in the pics - with the bottom out of alignment with the top.
Nikon should be able to quote for a repair - its a quality, full frame camera worth a proper repair. Despite its now small size 12 meg sensor it will still beat a lot of today's cameras
in the hands of a good photographer.
Cheers
Mike

if after replacing the batteries with new ones or freshly charged ones your camera does not start up, high chances that something internal has failed - that needs some professional checks to be done. The cam is built to identify and report most issues that can be corrected by the user. so if it does not turn on, chances are you need support from a camera repair shop. (Alt : one step that you already tried could have helped is the factory reset - there should be one or two buttons on the cam that needs to be pressed together to reset the cam)
SOURCE: "CF CARD CANNOT BE USED"
If you are not able to find your connecting cable. Well what you can do is you can take out the memory card and fix it into the card reader (you will get a card reader vey cheap anywhere.). and connect it to your comp.
Now your card will work as a flash drive and format the card once.
May be you got a corrupted card.
Hope this helps you out.. :))
SOURCE: Half of the image on the screen of my Nikon L6
This indicates a flaw in the matrix that creates the image on the screen. The parts that have failed are often an integral part of the LCD screen and would likely have to be replaced as a unit. Unless someone here has already been involved in either repairing or has repaired this problem, the cost is hard to guess but it may be close to replacement cost of the camera. This happened to a three-year-old Olympus of ours and I found the display at close to $100 US so the camera is retired.
SOURCE: CF light stays on, cards come out unreadable by computer
You may need to have your camera driver and software reinstalled. It seems that the internal writer capabilities are corrupted.
This is evident if each card you use ends up corrupted or unreadable, but the rest of the camera operates normal.

Sometimes pins inside take strain. Read up on how to replace the CF pin unit. Not too difficult as long as you don't force anything and remember to retrieve the little metal strip....
