My new Finepix S1000FD freezes after taking a couple of pictures. I need to remove the battery to reset. but then it freezes again.

  • Anonymous Dec 27, 2008

Only when I use the flash does the camera freeze. I have to open the battery compartment to get it to unfreeze. But the last photo is lost. Just wondering how many other people have the same problem.

I have  the exact same problem

Hi !! I have the same problem with my recently bought s1000fd..can you please tell me the brand of SD Card that works well on flash pictures too? thanks

  • HOLLEY94 Mar 07, 2009

every now and then after taking a photo, the S100fd camera will freeze or say there is a write error on the screen. I have to take the batteries out and put them back in but it deletes the last picture!!

im going to london in a month so i need a solution fast!!

My camera freezes too, I just bought it 2 days ago!! I'm hoping upgrading to a better brand of sd card will help. The funny thing is- this problem is not listed in the troubleshooting section. It obviously happens a lot.

Hello! i bought a new fuji s1000 and i have the same problem: the camera frizes after taking 5/6 photos only with flash... i have an SD card Kingston 2Gb. Is the problem really in the card???

  • Anonymous Apr 26, 2009

I have exactly the same problem. I only have to take one picture, using the flash on the camera, for the camera to suddenly freeze. This is becoming a very irritating problem as I have only just bought this camera. If not for this problem, the camera itself would be brilliant. The camera works normally in every other way, other then the flash.

I had this problem with my s1000 Fujifilm, but solved it by changing the standard SD card for a SDHC class 4 card. It no longer freezes when a flash is used! I've tried a 4Gb and a 16 GB SDHC class 4 card and both are fine.

I had same problem as well with my Fuji Finepix S1000fd camera. I solved it by changing my SD memory card. Always use a Premier brand memory card.

Wow I just bought our Fujifilm 4450 and took it outside to take some pictures of the snow thismorning and it locked up after a few minutes of picture takeing just like you are all talking about. I thought the whole camera was ruined untill I read this post. After putting another SD card in it fixed it. So thanks for your post!

Old pictures show up fine but new pictures show up very darkkk

two reasons for this are possible:
1) you changed the exposure compensation by mistake to minus something... - see below - change it again to +- zero:

Black screen

Try downloading the photos to a computer. If this doesn't work there may be a problem with the flash chip. If so, try reformatting it - that worked for me when I had a couple of photo storage locations that constantly put up garbage displays and produced file error messages on downloading.

Hi!! I inherited a Konica Dynax Maxxum 5D it takes great pictures, but I can't figure out how to get the LCD monitor to show the picture I am taking...it is on a blue screen with functions and settings,...

To see the picture you want to take on the screen, your camera needs to have a feature called "live view". I'm not sure if your camera has that feature. It's a relatively new feature on more expensive cameras. Check your owner's manual.

My minolta maxxum 7d won't take a picture....The shutter will push down but no picture will be taken. I tried it later in the day then it worked. Now today I tried, it worked this morning and then not...

Precision Camera picked up the responsibility for fixing the 7D and 5D Konica-Minolta cameras when Sony bought out K-M. I contacted them when my 7D wasn't functioning, and sent them my camera. Fortunately, on of the problems was "First Frame Black". Precision completely refurbished my camera and returned it to me in better than new condition. Sony picked up the full cost for the total refurbishing; all I paid was the shipping cost to Precision. I might add that my 7D was not in warranty. The URL for Precision Camera is:
http://www.precision-camera.com/ . Give it a shot.

Can't format memory card on maxxum 5D

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

    Minolta Maxxum 5D

The P-channel MOSFET switching the CF power is dead. It is on the little board directly above the battery compartment. SOT23 package, the marking is 338 or something like that. Replace it and it will work.

    Lack of image

There is a known problem with the 7D and some early 5D's where sometimes when you turn the camera on and take a picture it is all black and the camera locks up. You can turn it off and back on and the problem goes away for awhile. Don't know if this is what ou are experiencing. If it is, Sony (who bought out Konica Minolta's camera division) will fix the problem for free. Just had this repaired on my 7D.

Konica Minolta Dynax 5D/Maxxum 5D turns itself off after first shoot

It sounds like that's the first black frame problem that is a fairly common defect with the cameras, so much so that Sony is repairing it for free, for more info, see:

    http://ca.konicaminolta.com/information/20070202/01_en.html

    then go to:

Shooting in the dark here, but the basic things you should try before all else is another mem card, and new compatible batteries. sounds more like a card problem though. hope it works out
