To boot up from the DVD drive go into the BIOS setting - boot device order and move the DVD as the first boot device and the hard disk as the 2nd boot device.
If you want to boot up with the USB then move the USB as the first device. If the USB is not listed as a boot device then it is not possible to boot up with an USB device.

Thank you for your reply but unfortunately I tried that with DVD and USB as first boot device but still no changes. But still cannot detect anything and still give me the no bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key.

This means you have a motherboard/BIOS problem.
    This may work.
Try reseating the hard drive and then see if the Acer will boot up with the hard disk.

HP 255 How do I setup bootable disk ? I have tried esc and seled internal cd-dvd room but it doesn't work

On the HP System, you'll need to press the escape key as the system is starting up, and then hit F9 to get to Boot Device Options. Once there, you can set the boot order. After you've set the boot order, you'll also need to make sure that you have bootable files in the device that you've selected as the first boot device.

For example, if you've set the first boot device as CD-ROM drive, and the second is the Hard Disk Drive, then you'll have to make sure that there's a bootable CD/DVD in the drive when you start the system. If no bootable files are found on the first boot device, it'll automatically check the next boot device, which is the Hard disk and start booting from the Hard disk.

My pc wont boot. All i get is " reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

This can happen if you have non-bootable media in the default boot device (i.e., you have a CD in the CD/DVD drive and that drive is listed as the default boot device in your system's BIOS). More often (on newer systems), a failed hard drive will also produce this message.

If you have bootable media (the Windows install CD is one example), you should try to boot to it and see if you can read your hard drive.

Invalid system disk

The computer TRIED and FAILED to boot from the hard-disk, and now is expecting you to insert a "bootable" CD-ROM into the optical drive. Replace the "dead" hard-disk.

Loveno S10-2 - No bootable device found

Make sure your hard drive has higher priority in the boot options in BIOS. If it still doesn't boot then you will need to replace your hard drive. If it shows no hard drive in BIOS then the drive is most certainly bad and needs to be replaced.

Aspire one keep saying no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key and I don't have a disk slot

You hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

Hi! I need help with my computer. I use a seagate ST380811AS hard disk in my desktop computer. The problem now, is that everytime I start my computer "A non system disk" appears on the monitor or...

1 Remove any floppy disks or bootable CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives or other bootable media from the computer. Attempt to restart the computer again. Proceed if you continue to receive the error.
2 Restart the computer again. Press the key required to enter your BIOS setup. (The monitor usually displays a "Press [key] to access BIOS" right after restarting your computer. Press the key shown on your screen.)
3 Navigate to the "Boot Options" or "Advanced" menu by using the arrow keys. (The precise menu terms will vary according to your computer and BIOS type.)
4 Select the hard disk that contains your operating system (usually C:) as your primary boot device. Select your CD/DVD drive, your floppy drive or another hard disk as your secondary boot device.
5 Save and exit the BIOS. Proceed with the next step if you see the "Non-system disk error" message again.
6 Restart the computer. Return to the BIOS' "Boot Options" screen by following the steps above, then set the "CD/DVD drive" as the primary boot device and the hard disk as the secondary boot device. Save and exit the BIOS.
7 Insert your Windows installation disc. Restart the computer. Press any key to boot from disc. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows.
8 Replace your hard disk drive if you cannot install Windows.

Hi, your laptop will try and boot an operating system in a given order denoted under your bios, usually it will look for a bootable cd or dvd first (which is why the light on your cd/dvd drive flashes when you switch on your laptop), it will then try and find an operating system on the hard drive and if all else fails will try and boot from a network connection. In this instance it looks like what it is telling you is that is has failed to detect bootable media in the cd/dvd rom drive (i.e. no windows disc), it has failed to detect a bootable hard drive and it has failed to detect a bootable network connection.

It sounds very likely that either your hard drive was damaged in the fall or the connection has become unstable so first off remove the lower covers from your laptop and remove and refit your hard drive, try to power it up and see what happens. Let us know how you go.

Hope this helps

G60-230US PC Notebook died. It reads: "No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key" on startup. startup test failed: "there is no hard disk."

It means that your notebook is not able to detect any hard drives or a bootable drive
also plz check if there are any cd/dvd or any external devices like flash drives or external hard drives connected to the nb.. If so disconnect all the external devices and try to boot up ..
If it does'nt work go to the bios screen by continiously tapping F10 or F2 or DEL key as soon as you turn on the nb and check if the hard drive is detected or not.. if its not reset the hard drive and retry.. If the hard drive is detected run a hard drive self test if it fails.. replace the drive if it passes run system recovery
Hope it works

Laptop wont boot from cd/dvd drive, hard drive is cleasn, no viru

Hi usavahe.
Booting from CD should be possible.
1) When the laptop first starts to power up, repeatedly press the F12 key. This should bring you to a screen that lets you select the boot device.
2) For the Satellite, it may show icons across the bottom of the screen. You want the one that looks like a CD.
3) It should the start to boot from the Windows CD (if it is indeed a bootable disc) and you will see the message "press any key to boot from cd".
4) Press any key you want on the keyboard and the Windows CD installation process should begin

Hope that helps
