My Mitsubishi wd-62531 has a yellow hue over half of the screen. What do i need to do to fix it?

My tv has a yellow hue over half if the center of the screen. It has been this way for some time now. I changed the lamp today and it did not fix that part of the problem. What do I need to do to repair the problem? Is there something I can clean to correct it?

Not a cleaning issue.

The lamp shines into a OPTICAL LIGHT ENGINE, which has a series of lens and baffles---blue is the first part of the engine to get that light and heat---in your case the blue area is damaged from the heat----minus blue equals yellow.

The entire engine would have to be replaced--not a cheap part--Google the model number with "light engine" to get an idea of cost.

May be time to either use it as is or ?

It seems the problem you refered is quite complicated if you are not qualified technican. It needs full servicing of main board, including all the heated areas on board. You will need a soldering iron, and a multimeter to test the components, such as resistors on CRT socket board. The yellowish colour is caused by dry joints, (a common fault causing components to shake from its soldered base by heat). Resolder the main board and test the resistors on the CRT socket board for defective ones, change it. If you think you are qualified for this, give it a try or else consult a technican. thanks

SOURCE: WD-62531 fan

If the fans aren't operating then the set shouldn't stay on or even turn on. If its the main lamp exhaust fan then you are looking for part number 299P288010. They are relatively easy to replace as they only have a 3 pin connector that will plug into the main board or the power supply. Verify its that fan and as always if you replace it yourself make sure the set is unplugged. Once replaced the back will have to be re-installed or the set will not work as it has a safety switch that detects when the lamp door is off and on.

The picture is dull, what i have to do for the TV?

The usual cause of the DLP's geeting dull is the front small projection mirror gets dusty and needs cleaning. The mirror is located dead center in the front after removing the screen assembly. Its a small mirror directly in front of the lens assembly of the light engine.

Mitsubishi tv model wd-62531 less than 2 years old

It sounds to me like your bulb has burned out. Look behind your TV for where the bulb housing is and pull the bulb out to check if it's burned out or not. You'll know when you look at it if it's toast.
