Ok first off I did tons of research on google and this site and I have found many posts on this 5 blink problem, but no responses from people saying if they tried it or if it worked. The problem started after little squirt (2 years old) was pressing the button over and over.
Ill give my detail run down of what happends when i turn the tv on. First you get that "thong" charge sound, like the tube is charging, but it sounds a little more short then usual and the crt doesnt turn on. Then the light blinks 5 times, pause, then 3 times. This i beleive isnt the important blinks. After the initial 5-3 blink, I wait about 30 seconds and it jumps into the 5-pause-5-pause-5 blinking. No picture at all.
Now i've seen a post on this forum that the person explains that this problem is the tube isnt getting power, so that the problem might be from the power supply area. Also since the power button was pushed repedatly im thinking this makes sence.
Either way im willing to try stuff out. I studied electronics in college, with my computer degree, and am currently doing a correspondance course in electrnics, so i know my way around. Im prety good in theory but havent had allot of hours hands on.
Any suggestiongs on what to look at? And should i discharge anything else then just the tube?

In standby mode (red led on/after the led stops from blinking), press "Display", "5", Volume (-)", "Power on" on the remote control in sequence, self diagnostic screen will be display, let me know the what is on the screen to diagnose where the fault came from.

I had the same problem. If there is a prob with powersupply the system goes into this mode. You need to give it a technician, he needs to fix the transformer in the system. After changing the trans he would have to chk the amp rating, it could fail 3 to 4 times till he gets the right one. As this is 32 inch it consumes lots of power so he needs to balance the amp else the tube can be knocked out.
