Blue-ray disc causing Sony blue-ray player to shutdown

I recently purchased a UniversalHiDef blue-ray disk of the Hulk from Wal-Mart. It took a while to load the disk. Upon clicking on play the Sony blue-ray dvd player would shutdown and reboot when the movie began. All other blue-ray disks run without any problems. I took the disk back to Wal-Mart and received another blue-ray disk of the Hulk, same problem. Sony blue-ray player was purchased at Best Buy in 2008. It seems like it might be a memory resource issue.

Have a question on maintenance

It will cause a decrease in life span of the unit, it is always a good idea to remove any disc and do a proper shutdown of the player for maxium performance.

Year old S350 plays normal DVDs happily but (recently) wont load up Blu Ray disks. Grinds away loading and eventually says disc not recognised.

Hi:
This is due to a faulty optics lens or mech assembly, the laser used for normal DVS's are red but when Blue ray is inserted the laster uses blue light or blue laser, you may have a defective laser.

Some blu-ray disks play on the sony bdp-s300 and some don't. It seems every blu-ray disk I purchase from Walmart does not play on my blu-ray machine why?

Cause walmart has parental discs. Some sort of censorship version. All there music cds delete or beep/blip the profanity out, so im pretty sure they get their movies with a certain level of parental control embedded. Make sure your parental control level on the sone BD player if set to play all. Basically no parental regional restrictions. Hope that help. If that doesnt. I suggest just not supporting Wal-Mart. They are NWO associated. And everything you buy there no matter hw insignificant have RFiDs embedded into them. Just a little FYI for ya. Google it. Its creepy stuff.

Cant read the discs, dvd,cd or blu ray, "no disc"

You need to purchase a dvd disc cleaner or buy a can of air from wal-mart and spray out the drawer and the inside of the player with the drawer open, the eye of the dvd player is probably dusty and can't read the disc...and make sure the dvd is clean with no finger prints on it.

Ok EVERYONE. After emailing Sony Pictures, I took the second copy back to Fred Meyers put it in their active BluRay display player. I have a Sony BDP-S300 right at a year from purchase, they had a Sony BDP-S350 and my disk that did not work - played fine even past the eagle. I came home Downloaded and installed a Firmware update. Now my copy of Hancock that did not work works fine.. The simple answer is Update your Firmware
