Have been using the camera perfectly since Christmas (2011). Used the camera couple of weeks ago, and it ran out of battery, which is obviously normal. I left it for about two weeks without charging, just forgot about it and left it in a shaded and cool area. Yesterday I tried to charge it, plugged it in, as usual; nothing happened. No usual flashing of the battery light, wouldn't turn on, nothing. Tried plugging it into the computer, still nothing. The computer didn't even recognise that it was even there. Haven't done anything since. Help :)

The battery could be near the end of it's useful life. Try another one to make sure it's the battery and not the camera.

Hi,
You no need to fix this problem. This is a CCD failure and in some cases had been subject to a recall. Contact Nikon support-this may be one of the recalls and replacement camera could be on its way. They will do it for free of cost.
Thank you !!

I faced the same problem too. But I realised that after plugging in the adapter and connecting it to the camera, you would need to press the power button but not turn it on.
