Question about Nikon CoolPix S4150

1 Answer

Nikon Coolpix won't charge no matter what

Have been using the camera perfectly since Christmas (2011). Used the camera couple of weeks ago, and it ran out of battery, which is obviously normal. I left it for about two weeks without charging, just forgot about it and left it in a shaded and cool area. Yesterday I tried to charge it, plugged it in, as usual; nothing happened. No usual flashing of the battery light, wouldn't turn on, nothing. Tried plugging it into the computer, still nothing. The computer didn't even recognise that it was even there. Haven't done anything since. Help :)

The internal battery, which is kept charged by the removable battery, has probably run down. Take it to a repair facility.

SOURCE: Nikon Coolpix battery will not charge

The battery could be near the end of it's useful life. Try another one to make sure it's the battery and not the camera.

Hi,

You no need to fix this problem. This is a CCD failure and in some cases had been subject to a recall. Contact Nikon support-this may be one of the recalls and replacement camera could be on its way. They will do it for free of cost.

Thank you !!

I faced the same problem too. But I realised that after plugging in the adapter and connecting it to the camera, you would need to press the power button but not turn it on.

It uses a Rayovac 5100LB or equivalent, also used by a number of cell phones. Try looking among cell phone batteries.

Batteries are used up too quickly.

I've had that very same problem with it, too. I'd recommend a couple of things for it.

A) Try to take fewer photos that require a flash as that REALLY drains the batteries, and

B) Try installing a memory card for your photos. I got one that was about $10 at WalMart, and I'm not sure WHY, but it seems to have made the camera drain less quickly.

Also, if you download pictures from your camera to your PC, unplug it right after you download. For some odd reason, leaving it plugged into my computer has seemed to make the batteries weak as well.

Finally, I'd just get a big, cheap package of AAAs (Ray-o-vac tends to be the cheapest.) from WalMart or wherever, because this is just a cheap camera, and I guess when all is said and done, you get what you pay for. :P

DIGITAL CAMERAS HDC571 i WAS GIVEN THIS FOR CHRISTMAS 07 AND PRIOR TO THIS WEEK HAVE USED IT ONCE BEFORE. tHE BATTERIES SUPPLIED RAN OUT SHOWED NO POWER ON THE SCREEN SO I HAVE REPLACED THEM. i HAVE...

The camera uses a TFTLCD monitor, which is a high power usage device, any battery that are not high power will have the same results as you do (I have the same camera and done the same with cheaper batterys).

I will say go to a supermarket as mostr do Duracell turbo/ultras on 2for1 offers or 8 battery packs at half price.
