Hi - under the device manager there is a yellow (?) mark beside the ethernet controller for this motherboard. It doesnt recognise anything plugged into the ethernet plug (eg broadband internet) even though it can pick that internet up on wireless connection.
Letting windows auto-search for a driver update doesnt do anything and I dont have the original installation disk. Everything else works fine on the motherboard/computer just need that ethernet driver controller.
Any ideas where to download it from? Thanks
ps there is a serial code sticker on the side of the ethernet controller box that says JFM31U1B-01U4W if that helps...
awesome, thanks for that, perfect fix! had found that list but no idea which one it was, all working good now!awesome, thanks for that, perfect fix! had found that list but no idea which one it was, all working good now!
i couldnt get the problem solved with the above link, after downloading all lan drivers, mine turned out to be a broadcom, this is for the motherboard 814131U, ibm/lenovo, its a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet, there are two files that you download, pick the one that says gigabit, the url takes you to the main page, there are other drivers there

That's probably why you've 2 network cards on your computer. Check is it's so, then connect your cable to the other connector and your network connection will work. You can see in the control panel under network connection if you have to connection. The card with the yellow question mark need drivers. For that check that on the vendor website.

Once installed, run the program to identify exactly what ethernet card you have. Then you can either post back to get the driver or go to the manufacturer's site to get it. Best of luck.
Greg
you need the drivers for those devices marked with yellow --"yellow"ethernet
controller will not allow to access the web to download drivers to solve your problem--options are:- use the "original" driver disk that came with the laptop or download to another pc/laptop and transfer drivers using usb key.
Do you hear any beeps at all? Do you have a system speaker on the motherboard? If not, plug a 2-pin system speakers onto the motherboard where it says "speaker" and listen for some beeps.
You may have a fried CPU or dodgy RAM on your hands. Possibly even a faulty AGP/PCI-E slot, to name a few.
