My rio carbon says upgrader and won't switch on any help thanks

My rio carbon won't switch on every time i switch it on it says upgrader any help would be great thanks ****

    My Rio carbon is not switching on and upgrader is written on its screen.

Do not touch your player till your done.

Rio Chiba Upgrader Error
my rio carbon had the same problem and displayed upgrader all the time if it helps what i did was i cf modded my rio carbon look on google and see if your rio chiba can be cf modded and if that works that would be pretty cool and remember if you have any tech problems or mp3 problems google it and google usually will have an answer have a good day

Rio carbon player does not start it reads UPGRADER. I tried resetting needle in hole but still reads UPGRADER
try puting a cf card in it or look up problem on google if this doesnt help hold in menu and power for 4 seconds see if this helps in undoing the upgrader message if not try connecting it to a windows pc with xp or 7

Rio carbon is saying upgrader and then i reset it and plugged it to my computer and now it says on the screen writting...reading... idle. then i try uploading music and it says to switch to or retry.
u have to upgrade the firmwxare of ur unit u can perform that while downloading the utilty from the main support page .

Sorry, Rio kinda went bust some time ago so to my knowledge there isn't anywhere that does repairs anymore.

Rio Carbon Stuck in Upgrader Mode
Hi Allyson,
This is a problem which I have encountered alot with my Rio Carbon.
A solution which always works for me is to hold the player face down in my left hand and then slap the back of it with my right palm a little harder than I would if I was winding a baby.

Rio Carbon stuck "WRITING"
The writing message may appear for a good forty minutes after completing the firmware upgrade - make sure your player is fully charged and just let it sit for an hour on that writing status - it will stop eventually.

Rio carbon upgrader message
Hi Linda, Your Rio Carbon is telling you that something is messed with its firmware and it can be resolved with an upgrade. You have to determine the exact model of your unit and download the firmware from http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/. Again you must choose the exact model. There are two ways of updating firmware updater or internet updater. complete instructions are also available. further you would need to connect your Rio to a PC to perform the upgrade. Good luck and pls post back should you need further information. Kind regards.

Stuck in Upgrader etc
well i own one too and thats probly the hard drive being stuck...just smack it against something hard , like sorta bump the rubber armor against the heel of your hand or a countertop...worked good for me...ya have to do it a few times...dont worry rio is defunct so theres really no warranty to think of anywayz

Rio Carbon upgrade problems
Sorry dude, with the hard drive clicking you are probably looking at a toasted drive or controller chip. When you get the 'upgrader' screen the device cannot get information from the drive. Your best bet is to remove the drive and try it in another device such as a digital camera or a PDA with a slot. The average life of these devices seems to be about 2 months, with a (very) few people eeking out a year or so. Most of the time the volume control breaks, or cycles, or the drive interface craps out ('upgrader' screen)
