Connection to winows media failed

1. check your netwok calble properly
2. check your router internet connection
3. follow these steps

Accessing network settings loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); To access the Network Settings area, follow the steps for the version of the Xbox 360 Dashboard that you are using.

New Xbox Experience Dashboard:
  1. From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, select System Settings in the My Xbox area.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Configure Network.
Legacy Xbox 360 Dashboard:
  1. From the Xbox 360 Dashboard, move to the System blade.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Edit Settings.
IP settings, IP address, subnet mask, and gateway loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); Collapse this imageExpand this imagenetworksettings-basic.jpg

After you select either Configure Network or Edit Settings, you will be on the Basic Settings tab, which contains your IP and DNS settings. When you select the IP Settings block, you are prompted to select an Automatic or Manual configuration. If you select Automatic, the Xbox 360 console will try to automatically determine your IP settings from your network or from your modem or Internet service provider (ISP). This option is recommended for most users.

You may have to or prefer to manually configure the IP settings, especially when a static IP address is used. This is necessary only if your ISP has issued a static IP address, or if you have configured the router to issue static IPs (and DHCP is not used). To manually configure the settings, select Manual, and then enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway by using the keyboard on the screen. When the information is complete, select Done.
DNS settings, primary and secondary DNS servers loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); After you select either Configure Network or Edit Settings, you will be on the Basic Settings tab, which contains your IP and DNS settings. If you select Automatic, the Xbox 360 console will try to automatically determine your DNS settings from your network or from your modem or ISP. This option is recommended for most users.

You may have to or prefer to manually configure the DNS settings, especially in scenarios in which a static IP address is used or where DHCP is not available or not offered by the ISP. To manually configure the settings, select Manual, and then enter the primary and secondary DNS server names by using the keyboard on the screen. When the information is complete, select Done. Note You do not have to enter a secondary DNS server to connect to Xbox LIVE. A secondary DNS server is required only if the primary DNS server has technical problems.
Wireless settings loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); To configure your Xbox 360 console to connect to your wireless network by using an Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter, follow these steps:
  1. Access Network Settings .
  2. On the Basic Settings tab, select Wireless Settings.

Note If the wireless settings area does not appear or is unavailable, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 909333 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909333/ ) While attempting to view the settings for a wireless network connection, all the wireless functions appear to be disabled in the Xbox Dashboard
  3. Follow the instructions to select your wireless network, select your wireless network name, and then enter your wireless security information.
  4. Select Done.
PPPoE settings loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation'); If your Internet service provider uses PPPoE authentication, you have to enter the settings in the Xbox Dashboard if you have a direct connection through a modem. If you use a router or a gateway instead, leave the PPPoE settings blank because the router performs PPPoE authentication. Note If your ISP does not use PPPoE authentication, make sure that these settings are blank. To learn whether your ISP uses PPPoE authentication and to learn the correct PPPoE information, contact your ISP.To configure the PPPoE settings on your Xbox 360 console, follow the steps for the version of the Xbox Dashboard that you are using.

New Xbox Experience (NXE) Dashboard:

  6. Select Done.
  7. Select Back to return to the main Network Settings area.
  8. Select Test Xbox LIVE Connection to restart the test with the new PPPoE settings that you have configured.
