Dryer won't spin, appears to be out of alignment

Probably the bearing, right? I can't tell until I open it up. How do I open up the dryer portion of the Kenmore stacked washer/dryer "Laundry Center"?

I can take the plate off the back, but it doesn't give me access or visibility enough to see what's going on. Does the whole back come off? Or the top? Does anyone have a manual or diagram I can refer to?

Frigidaire dryer gallery series wont spin

Hello Hannah Kottman - Sounds like the tub is unbalanced from either a bearing/pulley suspension problem or the unit has broken something off in between the tub and outer portion of the unit. This is not a typical DIY job since the entire back panel of the unit needs to be pulled off and diagnosed. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Dryer won't spin

Was the belt shredded ( normal wear & tear ) or burnt through which could be a drum bearing or support problem .What does the drum feel like when you turn it by hand is it grinding & lump ? The fact that the motor runs with no load could by the start device faulty these are reasonably cheap to replace this is the small cylinder attached to the side of the motor with two wire connections . if your motor has not got one of these then its the start windings in the motor

Whirlpool LTE6234DQO combination washer/dryer. Dryer started making really loud noise. Dries good.

it might be the bearings, switch off/unplug, open door and gently lift the drum at the top up/down,if there is a lot of movement its probably either the bearings or undue wear/tear on the friction pads the drum spins on

Hello, I have just purchased a frigidaire gallery series stackable combo 2004 model glet1142cso after hooking it up i am having problems. It won't fill unless dryer door is open..won't spin out...

Probably an auto tec installed the recepticle on the wall or in the electric pannel. in home electric the black wire and the red wires are hot. In automobiles the black is ground. You should have 240 volts between the two flat connectors on the plug when its pluged into the recepticle.

My dryer flew off of a dolly when loading it on a trailer to move it. It smells like rubber is burning when I turn the dryer on. It was working fine until we moved the dryer. Could it be the belt is loose?

If the dryer fell some distance, the drum is probably out of alignment.

If the drum is not spinning at all, something has jammed the drum and the belt is being overheated by the motor pulley.

If the drum is spinning and there is a rubber smell, the drum has been knocked off of its rollers and/or glides.

In either case, the dryer needs to be opened. Click the link below:

There are two basic types of Maytag dryers, older models and the newer ones with the door that wraps over the top ('L' shaped door).

Sounds like your motor may be shot. Or possibly one of the pully's bearings are seized and is causing so much resistance the motor is unable to overcome it.

Grinding when first start dryer until tub spinning at proper speed Too much weight will not turn on? Inspected rollers everything appears fine This a sign of a "weak" motor?

Suspect worn out front dryer supports, either bad roller bearings or worn silicone/teflon slides.

These can be replaced by a reasonably skilled homeowner, but if you don't feel comfortable removing at least the dryer front, best left to a skilled repairman.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Dryer

It seems that the "bucket' is out of alignment. it should be aligned straight and there is a protective seal around the bucket.if it is not aligned right, it will turn very slow or could even ruin your bushing or bearing at the back of the dryer.(besides catching on fire) Disconnect the dryer and remove the top and front. you will notice if the bucket is out of place. The reason it is probably not stopping is because the switch on the inside of the door is shorting and therefore ON all the time.it has 2 wires that click on the switch when you close the dryer door.

Electrolux EWD1409I washer dryer

The tub bearing is blown out behind or underneath the spin tub. You won't see it until you pull the spin tub out of the machine. It's not a job for the lay person.
