I have a 6 year old Lexicon RV 5 receiver. Suddenly nothing works - neither the front panel power button nor the remote. I can power up the unit using the power switch at the back , but it does not cycle through and leaves me with the words - "Lexicon ....". I contacted Lexicon and they told me to power up with the back button and at the same time hold the ">" button until "release button" appears on the face. It should reboot at this time. Tried, but with no success. A little frustrated. This is the most expensive receiver I have purchased and the other four less expensive and some much older units never have a problem.

Nope. sorry to burst your bubble but your problem is pretty common on this unit. Its bad capacitors in the power supply and probably not worth repairing in a repair shop. since this is a solid state reciver, there are no user replaceable parts inside.

I've had this happen a number of times with my receiver. This trick from the Troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual usually does the trick: To reset If an unusual condition in the display window or malfunction occurs, reset the unit as follows. 1 Press the POWER button to turn off the power. 2 Press the POWER button while pressing the ENTER button. Everything stored in memory after purchase is canceled. If the power cannot be turned off in step 1 because of a malfunction, reset by disconnecting the AC cord and carry out step 2.
Disconnect the speakers and see what happens. Carefully examine the speaker cables for unwanted connections (shorts).
Take a clue from when the power problem appeared. Something was moved and made the buzz a (probable) dead short.

G'day i have had the Same Problem With a Yamaha RX-V750 That i have Repaired...You need to Replace the Three Capacitors On the Sub-Transformer Board...They Hold a Small amount of current to use to turn over the transistors and in turn trip a relay that boots the unit these go dry all the time in these units..replace them and it will work again no prob's
Components As Follows:
2x 2.2 uF 100V (C402) (C403)
1x 1uF 50V (C401)
The relay also could be damaged...or the diode across the Coil you may have to replace these too these faults could have been caused by a surge...or just faulty cheap and nasty components!!
