Bose 321 turns on then off and won't respond.

When I plug in the Bose 321 the front panel lights up with Bose 321 then shuts down and won't do anything else. If i unplug it for a minute and plug it back in it does the same thing.

SOURCE: I have a Bose 321

That is indicative of a main board failure in the Bose unit. I have seen this way too many times.... when these Bose 321's go they really go. It will need to be repaired if you want to salvage that system, there is nothing you are doing incorrectly, and nothing you can do to reset it, it is true hardware failure inside the unit. Your best bet is to call this "back-end" number of Bose's to set up the service, 1-877-210-3782, they are open Monday - Friday: 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM ET...

So sorry about that, but it definitely is a failed board in the unit.

SOURCE: Bose 321 won't turn on

I'm amazed at the range of comments regarding this system; they range from unbridled enthusiasm to some **** words.
Before I try to help, if I am not familiar with a specific model but have a clue to what the nature of the problem might be, I research the item to see if I find some support for my suspicion.
You might keep tabs on some comments I found relating to a possible class-action lawsuit due to the array of problems that have appeared with this system.
This link will give you a sample of them:

SOURCE: Bose 321 II dvd drawer won't open, fixes here

Hi Donna,

Please do be frustated.

Your lovely Bose has problem with its mechanism that cause load / unload totally out of order. If you hear some noise while you turn on the bose or when you hit some buttons, it is telling us the motor still work. Now we need to check the broken gears ( or other mechanism linkage).
If you able assemble this Bose, go ahead to find and fix it mehanism ( you may need some parts replacement.

Note : Be carefully with its laser lens while power on ( avoid direct contact to your eyes).

Best luck,

Jay

My proline it turns on and shut it self off the same time?

To connect an SA-2 amplifier to the BOSE 321 Series II Media Center, you will need to use an RCA to 3.5mm audio cable. Connect one end of the cable to the output of the SA-2 amplifier and the other end to the Aux input of the BOSE 321 Series II Media Center. Then set the input selector on the BOSE 321 Series II Media Center to Aux.

Have a Bose 3-2-1 Series III. When I put in a DVD, I get sound through the Bose but no picture on my Pioneer TV. This is the second time it has happened. The first time it, we managed to get it going...

Here are 3 things to try and an if all else fails at the end.

1) Make sure the TV is set to the correct Video Input to see the video from DVDs on the Bose system.
• Make sure a DVD is in the disc tray.
• If the TV is connected to the media center using the HDMI cable:
Switch from one Video Input to another and then back to the original input.

2) Turn everything off, then:
Turn on the TV and set the TV Video Input for the Bose system video.
Turn on the Bose system and press DVD.

3) Turn off both the TV and the Bose system and then:
Unplug the HDMI cable from both ends.
Disconnect the power cables from both your TV and the Bose 321 system.
Re-connect power to the TV and to the Bose 321 system.
When the Bose 321 system startup message disappears from the display,
re-connect the HDMI cable to the TV then Bose 321 system.
Turn on the TV first, then turn on the Bose 321 system.

If all the above fail then disconnect the HDMI cable that connects the TV to the Bose 321 system and reconnect the two using a Component cable, an S-Video cable, or the Composite cable provided with the system.

Please leave feedback

Cheers

My Bose 321 series II is not responding to the control remote commands!

You need to test the remote, in a low lit room try using your remote real close in front of a digital camera or video camera, hold the remote button down and look at the LCD screen of the camera, you will see blinking LED's if its working, (Dogs can see this light all the time I think) if you see the infrared beam in the digital camera image its working or transmitting.

    Bose 321 Remote not working

Pull off the front panel, be carefull there is a ribbon attached. Detach the ribbon. There are 2 ribbons attached to the front panel, one that leads to the IR (remote sensor) and other for the controls on the top of the unit.

Most likely the ribbon that goes to the IR sensor detached itself, this is common if the unit is dropped etc. Insert the ribbons (2) re-attach the front panel and the remote should work fine. You'll notice some tape on the IR ribbon, I suggest using some stronger tape, BOSE tape thats not very good.

This happened to me on my 3-2-1 GS II system and fixed it.

    Bac speaker bose 321

The arrays from this system are only designed to run with the Bose Acoustimass / subwoofer, which in turn will only work with the Bose DVD player. If you use them directly to an amplifier, they'll sound poor / wierd and you probably blow the drivers. You might even damage your amp.

Each speaker has 2 drivers firing in slightly different directions. The idea is (when its used with the 321 system), the inward speakers give a mix of front and centre, the outer drivers give a mix of front and rear. A normal amp won't do this....

You probably blew up several components in the power
supply circuit, but yes it can be fixed.
Just take it down to your local TV repair shop.
Oh wait, those don't exist anymore.
