When you use the internet you are using a connection to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) over some kind of line whether it is a phone line using a modem or a cable for a cable modem. ISDN is just another way that you connect to the internet. ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network. ISDN is a digital phone connection system and is often used to give you higher and more reliable service. So, what they mean is to call your phone company and ask them to check your line, that is all they mean. Remember, the Internet itself is just a huge set of connections using an unbelievable number of types of connectivity from phone lines to space based relays and how you get there is through whatever line you have set up between you and your ISP. Does that help?

II can make outgoing calls and my broadband is working well but it is not accepting incoming calls

do you have DSL broadband where the broadband is on the phone line. Did you install ADSL line filters to all your phone lines ?
Also check that there are no diversions set up on your phone line to another phone number. (I have been caught with this one in the past)
I do not know your phone system in Australia it would be #21# from memory to cancel diversion

All lines are showing line not assigned. we cant ring out or receive calls on the 6 phones in the office

Contact your line provider the system cannot see the lines , if you have ISDN lines these should show a green light on each and should be solid when connected and flash if disconnected

Hi I have been tasked with simple programming task on a panasonic kx-td816 ISDN phone system. Well I thought it would be simple!!. We are small company and when we are out of the office I want to set up...

Don't they have Panasonic Engineers where you are? We don't have ISDN here, but we do have things like software revisions, CF off premise, and flags in 990 and 991 that have to be turned on to forward a call to outside numbers. In our features guide, 4.3.13 Call Forwarding -- To Outside Line, there's a Conditions and Programming Guide References that tell us that you need Class of Service changes and Outside-to-Outside Line Call duration time (206 default 10 minutes) 504 CF to outside line and 601 Class of Service programs to change.

Your Mileage(Kilometers) May Vary.

3055 trying to fax getting COMM. Error?

It's probably your phone-line that causes the problem. The fax-module in your machine needs a 100% analog phone line. HP garantees nothing when using IP/ISDN/PABX-lines. Try lowering the baud rate, turn off JBIG compression and error correction mode, but if the problem remains, you better replace your phoneline.

Networking Configuration A network architecture is a set of standards for how computers are physically connected and how signals are passed between hosts. Some typical network architectures are described in the table below.
Network Architecture Description Ethernet Ethernet is a wired networking standard and is the most common networking architecture used in LANs (both in business and home networks). Dial-up Modem Dial-up networking is a common way to connect a computer (often your home computer) to a remote network, such as the Internet or a business network. A modem on each computer uses the phone lines to send and receive data. DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) DSL is a fast-growing alternative to dial-up networking to connect to the Internet. DSL uses regular phone lines to send digital broadband signals. ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) ISDN is another alternative to traditional dial-up that can be used to connect to the Internet or to directly communicate with another computer connected to the ISDN network. ISDN is more common in Europe than in the U.S. ISDN can use regular telephone wiring, but must be connected to a special ISDN network. Wireless Wireless networking uses radio waves or infrared light (with the air as the transmission medium) to send data between hosts. Wireless networks are common in homes, businesses, airports, and hotels. Most wireless networks connect into larger wired networks (such as LANs) which are in turn connected to the Internet. Communication between hosts on a network generally takes one of three forms:
  • Simplex--one-way communication from a sender to a receiver.
  • Half-duplex--two-way communication between two hosts. Communication only travels in one direction at a time.
  • Duplex--two-way communication between hosts. Communication can travel in both directions simultaneously.

Front panel dialing

You need to check in the 'network options', 'dial line', #4 'dial options' to see if you have the front panel function enabled.

As for not being able to call ISDN in the US, that is a possible routing or long distance service issue you need to have looked at by your service provider.
