All you can really do is make sure the iPod is fully charged before watching.  Video files require more system reosurces than music files, so it is very possible that it will run down in a couple of hours or less. There are no longer-lasting batteries that can be used with this particular mp3 player.

Try reseting it, It worked for me. Hold down the "Menu" button and the middle button for about 7-10 seconds.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: how can I change my broken battery. iPod A1136

You will need to very carefully open the casing of your Ipod. It is relatively easy to do, but unless you are mechanically pretty handy, I would not attempt this delicate battery replacement yourself (... just ask a friend!).

Buy a suitable 'replacement battery kit' for ipod A1136 that should also come with the necessary case opening tool and detailed instruction from sources like Amazon or Ebay or your local Electronic component shop (There is a huge price variation for the kits! Also watch for the Current ratings - higher is better)

I want to know which generation is the Ipod 30G model A1136, thanks

There are two 5th gen iPods, A1136 model is the older 2005 model, not the later 2006 model.

Here is Apples link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#ipodfifth2 which will show the differences, but not by model number. The reason I know this model number is the first 5th gen 2005 is because I have one. Also older 2005 should have '2005' engraved on rear.

A1136 model battery problem

Hi! Don't open the ipod as you won't be able to figure out weather the battery is working or not. iPod's battery life is around 2yrs. Get it replaced if it is in warranty period or if you have extended warranty.
