I hav a Conair Cuisine Ultra Series Espresso Maker. I do not have the manual. I know how to get it to make the espresso however I can't figure out how to get the steamer to steam the milk. There is a silver nozzle on the side of the machine for this purpose and it seems to get hot after a while but how do I get it to steam?
I have the same Conair Cuisine Ultra expresso maker as you; its an old one. Make sure the coffee grind is in the spoon/filter cup and as the water heats it will brew the expresso. Simply twist the the knob at the top of the silver steam valve stem will let out hot steam for you to frosh the milk.

I also don't know how to work my Salton EX45. Contacted the company who responded it's not their product! Interesting because its listed on the bottom of the machine! Help/!
