you are suffering from the Digital licensing information encryption from the majors, which ITunes will NOT agree to. That's how the music industry is making it's muscle show, with this sort of tawdry nonsense. I don't believe there's a s/w upgrade on this, unfortunately. There is a slight possibility that your software might have an interpreter, yet your Rio being that old, not for certain.
Hello,
Try to transfer the tracks from the explorer.
1Connect the Rio Carbon to a computer using the supplied USB cable. 2Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu. 3Locate MP3 or WMA audio files on the computer. 4Highlight files and/or folders to transfer to the Rio Carbon. 5Click Edit. 6Click Copy. 7Double-click My Computer on the Windows Desktop or in the Start Menu to open another window. 8In the new window, locate the Rio Carbon (X:) icon that is associated with the Rio Carbon. (X equals the drive
letter assigned to the Rio Carbon.) 9Double-click Rio Carbon (X:). 10Click Edit. 11Click Paste.
With the User Interface on the M42, that is not an available option. The player essentially finds all music on the player and puts each track's metadata (info about each track) into a database. As a result, you can only organize your songs by the available options of the database (e.g., Artist, Albums, Titles, Genres, etc.).
It would help if you use software like Windows Media to rip the music from a CD to the PC and then copy from the PC to the Rio. Using windows media will add the information automatically to the songs and if it is a copied CD with MP3s with no information on them, then windows media can also search for the information (must be connected to the internet for this) online.
Have you always used this on NT?
I would suggest:
1-Upgrade to win2k
2-go to http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=235 and install the latest music manager.
I would suggest going to the rio site, http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=235. Downloading the latest version of the rio music manager. See if,once the manager is loaded, you can access your music.
What OS did you load?
Are you using MS indexer or Google?
