How do I set the machine to get the exact same decorative stitch on both sides?s

  • do you have a manual?

  • Tara Marie May 22, 2012

I do have a manual, but it does not address my question. When I started to sew with the decorative stitch that I selected the result was exactly what I wanted. (The same on both sides.) However, when I took a break, then went to finish my project, It would only show the stitch on one side. I could not get it to do what it did before. I have tried all the obvious adjustments such as tension, and needle replacement. Please help! I already called the brother helpline and I got someone who didn't know anything about the sewing machine.

In most cases Laurie, with decorative stitches selected some machines can't sew in reverse. Your stitch length is too long or too short to make the decorative stitches sew correctly. So many things could be wrong. I'd need more info to get you going again.

Only half a stitch

Most likely, your hook timing needs to be adjusted. I'm afraid that this requires a technician, HOWEVER any sewing machine technician can adjust the timing, it's not machine specific.

All my decorative stitches are comming out straight

it sounds like something has happened to the cam gears that
do the decorative stitches, which means the sewing machine needs
to be checked..
but before you have the machine checked,, make sure all the
dial that are used for decorative stitches are at the right setting
one missed setting can cause a lot of problems
