SOURCE: Kirby Ultimate G carpet shampooer not producing foam anymore

I was having the same problem. There is a filter plug that came loose on mine and went down into the hose. It belong on the water tank and fits in there tightly and the hose end goes over it. That's what actually makes the foam.

SOURCE: kirby

Take the nozzle of, remove the brush roll, put the new belt over the brush roll, re-install and put the bottom plate on, making sure that the belt is in the middle of the brush roll. Turn the big knob on the front until it locks, when it grabs the belt it will be hard to turn. Re-install the nozzle on the machine and lock it down. Turn the knob again all of the way, this will release the belt unto the pulley.

SOURCE: Kirby G5 - the Tech Drive does seem to have much power

you need either a new nutreal cam bracket assembly, that is what engages and disengages the tech drive.OR to adjust the handle pivot assy- diffucult . this is not for the faint of heart. it is possible to fix them as i used to repair kirbys, however, I remember how frustrating it was to figure out how to disassemble and reassemble them. it is very complicated to a novice. I would recomend having it repaired professionaly. it is possible for a professional to repair it in a very short period of time.

another thing to consider. look on the UNDERSIDE of your Kirby, between the two drive wheels. just in fronnt of the tech drive/nutreal switch. there should be a screw there, tighten that screw up. actually tighten all of them. on My generation 3 the center screw came loose and it would not go in to drive and it would make an aweful clatter. hope this was helpful

Bracket cam assembly (see and buy HERE). It is worn so it does not disengage gears completely. On the part listing you will also find the instructions on how to replace it.

My G7D kirby vac was accidently dropped and the D & N lever came out of the machine. When I put the lever back in the hole it belongs in it is very loose and it doesn't switch from D or N.

The drive/ neutral pedal assembly must be replaced. This part is pressed together and cannot be repaired. A new assembly is about $17-$20. The power drive unit must be removed from the machine.

Gear shift fell out

This is an easy fix you do not have to fully remove transmission it does help to lower it down by removing screws. Then try to get the right angle and realign the splines I have fixed mine twice, the second time I put thread locker on it and have not had any problem. Steve

Does anyone know what the wattage is on a Kirby Ultimate G? I'm moving to the UK and need to know what size transformer to buy! Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My suggestion is that you contact the Kirby Co in Cleveland listed below and they will instruct you on the wattage and also what you need for a transformer, or look underneath the vacuum and there should be a sticker stating the amps and maybe the watts, but also the information may be in the owner’s manual or they will mail one out to you, there might be a local Kirby dealer in your area that might have a manual as well. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
