I'm thinking of buying a Craftsman tractor with a manual pto. What attachments can I use with it?
It would depend on the model/size of the machine i have seen that the snow blower attachments don't work very well on any rider i don't think sears had a tiller for anything modern and what you would pay for most any attachment you can get a stand alone version cheaper if you want a work tractor get a wheel horse a old cub or deere tractor not a riding mower that is to weak to handle the work out

It attaches the the front of the tractor. Similar to a plow to a truck. If you don't have the brackets, you will need those, or make your own. You can see a picture of the brackets if you go to sears.com. Click on the PartsDirect link at the top, and enter the blade model number.

OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM
Be sure operator presence and interlock
systems are working properly, If your
tractor does not function as described,
repair the problem immediately.
• The engine should not start unless the
clutch/brake pedal is fully depressed
and attachement clutch control is in the
disengaged position.
• When the engine is running, any
attempt by the operator to leave the
seat without first setting the parking
brake should shut off the engine.
• When the engine is running and the
attachment clutch is engaged, any
attempt by the operator to leave the
seat should shut off the engine.
• The attachment clutch should never
operate unless the operator is in the
seat.
Check your seat switch and clutch switch wires be sure that the connection to each switch is making contact and the mechanism that activates the switch is actually activateing them in other words be sure the clutch is pushing the switch in and your seat switch is occupied and be sure all grounding wires a intack
especially from your battery negative to the frame. You also could have a neutral safety switch which requires your transmission to be in neural.
try these things and let us know how we can further help from more of your input.
SOURCE: How do I chamnge the oil in my Craftsman lawn
There should be a pipe OR quick release valve coming out the right side at the bottom of the engine where it bolts to the frame. Most of the Craftsman riders I have worked on, had a long pipe with an elbow at the end of it and a plug in the bottom of the elbow for draining. Turn the wheels all the way to the left to allow enough room for a collection pan. It holds less than 2 quarts so the pan doesn't need to be too large
