SOURCE: Furuno 1623 Radar reading "no heading pulse"

The messages “NO HEADING PULSE” and “NO BEARING PULSE” means that the display is not communicating with the scanner (antenna). Both of these signals are generated in the scanner if you get this error check that the antenna cable is firmly connected and that the contacts are clean and corrosion free.

If the connection at the display looks good and feels like it’s properly connected, check the cable for any damage If you find damage you could try to repair the wires BUT (because of corrosion and moisture problems) IT IS STRONGLY REMENDED that the cable be replaced, but it’s kind of expensive $275.00.

The Part number is 000-130-034. Depending on the marine shops in your area they may have it in stock (or they can order one) but you can get it directly from Furuno at;

I hope it’s just a loose connection. Good luck!

SOURCE: Furuno 1622 doesn't work, water coming out cable at screen!

yes the cable should be replaced if you are lucky, the unit is still OK (display) Try the new cable, draped across the boat before rigging. If fault exists with new cable, replace system, or find a new display on ebay

SOURCE: Furuno 1715 Radar - 'NO HEADING PULSE'

More than likely the belt has come off again. This is a common problem with this radar. You'll need a small allen wrench to tighten it up again.

SOURCE: may i upgrade furuno 1920 gps/ploter with radar

If it has a round radar plug in the back then the answer is yes and it already has radar support. However to upgrade your unit to the latest software you will need a dealer for that. It's a very tricky process and if not done properly, you can ruin the bootloader programming that starts the unit. I know of a dealer that does this if you want to check in with them. You can even send them the unit. Try www.mid-shore-electronics.com.

SOURCE: Error SB SIG MISS on FURUNO CRT radar?

Either your reed switch is bad or your antenna is not rotating. You may hear the motor spinning but that does not mean the array is. If the array is not spinning make sure the belt did not come off the motor. Start there.

X band radar is not showing target echoes

If you have checked the magnetron current and it is normal, then the issue with the X band radar not showing target echoes could be due to a few reasons:
  1. Antenna: Check the antenna for any physical damage or corrosion. A damaged antenna can cause a weak signal or no signal at all. If the antenna is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Transceiver: Check the transceiver for any damage or malfunction. The transceiver is responsible for transmitting and receiving the radar signals. If it is not working properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
  3. Cabling: Check the cabling for any damage or loose connections. Faulty cabling can cause a weak signal or no signal at all. Make sure all connections are secure and the cabling is not damaged.
  4. Signal Processing Unit: Check the signal processing unit for any damage or malfunction. The signal processing unit is responsible for analyzing the radar signals and displaying the target echoes. If it is not working properly, it may need to be repaired or replaced.
If you are not comfortable troubleshooting the radar yourself, it may be best to contact a professional technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

Furuno 1942Mk2 Problem

it cannot determine a heading, have you also damaged an internal antenna or positioning / gps device inside it? It is unsure which direction it is pointing in but uses triangulation to determine this.

That requires either an electronic compass unit, or gps to achieve correct heading and hence correct orientation of the radar image
