GETTING PROBLEM WITH WINXP/VISTA INSTALLATION

    My Compaq CQ40-108TU came with dos. I want to install xp or vista but both fails to install.

    Kindly suggest as to what should be done

I have found this from another forum hope it will work:
For Installing Vista, some users reported that after resetting the BIOS to default (F9), the VISTA installation running smoothly.

In your bios the information of "non vista os installed" is "the Factory installed OS" for this laptop. Probably, you bought this laptop with freedos OS.

I recommend you to install VISTA for this model, however, some users with their own reasons feel the need of XP as their OS.

Up till now, they end up having a hardware conflict between Audio and modem. Some of them can tolerate it, some still finding for the solution.

Unfortunately, they could NOT ask a help from HP/Compaq since HP/Compaq ONLY support VISTA for Operating System.

A policy that encouraged by Microsoft to FORCE users to migrate to VISTA

If your laptop is still under warranty, installing WinXP will void the warranty. It's very tricky. I'd suggest getting another PC with Internet connection and search and download drivers as needed for your 1525. Good luck.

However only Vista Premium and Vista Ultimate users can perform a direct downgrade. You can start a fresh installation from a bootable disk of WinXP. Be aware that this will replace the Vista with XP.

I have a Hp dv2700 laptop,i wanna install winxp on it but when i m starting installation it,after first restart,I cannt select continueing installation win xp .
I havent encountered that issue before however if the OS for XP is even partially installed find and get a copy of EasyBCD and follow directions to add XP to the Vista Boot Record and then choose XP while booting and it may let you finish installation.

Acer 5570Z audio driver no sound
Try searching on google for KB888111. It's a microsoft software that is for the HD Audio bus that corrects a lot of problems.  Run driver update and point to the software you downloaded for 888111 and then install the software for the audio.

I have a Memorex U48 Flat Bed Scanner and have bought a new compouter with Vista. I need a driver download to work with Windows Vista. Thanks [email protected]
get the winXP driver MEMu1.50 (still available), there are no Vista drivers. Run the installation using WinXP emulation in Vista. You must run the installation as if you are in XP, not necessary when using the scanner subsequently. Now the Memorex 48u works on a Dell Dimension, running Windows Vista Home Premium. Hope this helps. I got the scannner for $14 after rebates at Staples years ago, it won't die.
