Hope you can help...the last thing I need right now is to have to call in a repair man. :(
Also, any instructions on how to get to the inside of the machine to see the parts would be greatly appreciated!

The model number you supplied QDSR495EB2WW does not come up in the GE Look-up. The first letter Q does not produce any GE Appliances. Do you reside outside the Unit States? Eric

  • Affordable Appliance Parts

That explains why our look-up does not include your model number. United States look-up and Canadian are different. Sorry... I cannot help further. Eric Campion

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine, Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer. Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor. Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear. Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt. Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them. If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem. I will include these two websites for parts and further help: http://www.partselect.com/ http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx Both also have chat assistance 24/7. I will also include this website...it has the breakdown of the drum and rollers plus parts and prices:http://www.partselect.com/ModelFrames.aspx?ModelID=123926&ModelNum=MDE6000AYW&mfgModelNum=&ManufactureID=1&Selected=51311&Position=6&mfg=Maytag&Type=&Mark=6

How do I fix a high pitch noise when spinning?

If your washing machine is making a high-pitched whine or squealing noise while running, the main culprit is usually worn motor bearings. To check the motor bearings, remove the belt and run the motor by itself, listening for the noise. If it makes the noise, than the problem is most likely the result of worn motor bearings.

Dryer makes squealing noise when running. What's wrong?

the idler or tensioner wheel that your belt rides on has a bearing in the center of it. This bearing is going out causing the high pitched squeal your hearing

Maytag electric dryer is making a high pitched noise

The squealing noise is from the belt tensioner. Replace the pulley only on the tensioner along with a new belt. The bearing in the pulley is causing the squeal. Sears will sell this in a kit. The top and the front panel of the dryer will have to be removed to replace these parts

tumble dryer / twin tub is making a loud rumbling noise when running, unplug it, take the rear cover off and remove the drive belt. Then turn the inner drum by hand. If there is a grating noise, the bearings will almost certainly need replacing

Squeeky noise

I own a Frigidaire Heavy Duty Dryer The Model # is FDE436RES1. It is 10 years old. When running the dryer it makes a very loud squealing noise although the heat and the dryer still work. Is this a belt or roller problem or does it sound like something else. It is very high pitched and can be heard throughout the entire home. I do not know much about dryer troubleshooting so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
