Emachine front panel power switch

I removed the front panel of the Emachine T3958 and disconnected the powerswitch from the m otherboard.

I have now reasembled the case and need a driagram of that portion of the m,otherboard so I know what pins to put the powerswitch on the motherboard.
there are five pins bare as follows sitting next to the plugs for the Power Led and the HDD Led:
X X

I am not sure if the power switch goes onto the first set of two in the row with three bare pins or in the row with two bare pins.
Thanks

I have printed out the user guide from the Emachine site and also looked at motherboard for makings. This switch is like a nit among all their other stuff so it got no attention.

There are no markings so before making a fifty-fifty choice I wanted to be sure as the wrong pins may burn something out.

    Thanks for your response however.

Here's the Support Link for your desktop. Look under User Guides, Hardware Reference. Also look on the motherboard for markings such as PW or PS and an indicator to where the wire goes.

Green light on MB but will not power up at all nothing, even if I hold the button on. Emachine T3958 about 5 years old.

first thing I would try is a new power supply. if that doesn't do it for you, it's most likely your motherboard is bad.

I have a emachine t3958 it will not turn on

Your power supply has gone out. This could have been caused by a surege, dust or bad power outlet.

You can purchase a replacement off eBay for under $25.00.

My emachine 4210 powers up but it cuts it sefl off

Check the power cable connections and make sure they are tight. If they are ok then i would say you have a bad power supply.

Hopefully eMachines are consistent with their wiring/layout design, that being the case this diagram for T2898 (by benz18724) should point you in the right direction...

Alternatively compare the abbreviated pin symbols on the header to the motherboard and match them up.

[Emachine C2684] Systems appears to be getting power, but won't boot.

Track down the motherboard manual, the motherboards of branded machines are usually made for them by PCChips or Foxconn or someone similar.
In the manual identify wich connectors on the motherbaord is the front power switch. Disconnect the front power switch and plug it all abck in again to see what happens with the power switch disconnected.
If you feel brave enough you can momentarily short the motherboard powerswitch connectors and the machine will start.
the front power switch is a momentary switch so only short the motherboard pins long enough for the machine to start.

I have emachine w3052. The

The board should have markings indicating where to put the wire. It will probably be abbreviated such as "PW" or something similar.

First check to see if a drive died. Unplug all the drive Floppy, hard and dvd or burns. I have come across many time that a drive will die and keep motherboard from booting. Being that you say you get a green light on the motherboard shows that the power suppy is providing some power. But for some reason the internal self test is faulting the power suppy. I have not come cross any bad power supplies killing a motherboard. But I have come across power supplies killing drives. The power switch is a normal open switch so the only time you be able test continuity on it is if you hold the switch in, or the closed position.
