Whirlpool will not agitate on the permanent press rinse cycle

I have a whirlpool washer. It agitates and spins fine on the heavy cycle. When you place it on the permanent press cycle it agitates during the wash cycle then when it goes to rinse it just fills up and sits there. Finally it will drain and spin, but it does not agitate during the rinse cycle.

Will not spin on any rinse cycle

Hi, This washer does not have a belt. While the washer is agitating, if you lift the lid will it stop? Some models will agitate but not spin if the lid is up. It sounds to me like the lid switch might be going bad.
If you will get me a model #, I can look this up for you and give you a better idea.

Washer agitates fine but when in spin cycle it will not spin fully engaged ,almost like its slipping .

try to pull off the agitator by placing your fingers under the bottom edge on 2 sides of the agitator...you might have to wiggle it back and forth while pulling up with a little bit of force....if it comes off, check to make sure that the rubber sleeve on top of the steel shaft is still there....if it's not...then it came off with the agitator....the rubber sleeves are permanantly pressed or glued to the steel shaft where the agitator is placed....as the steel shaft spins, the agitator spins with it and thats where it will slip because the rubber sleeve becomes disengaged from the shaft....if the sleeve is still on the shaft...then you need to replace the motor and accompaning parts because the problem would be internal in the gearing drive system.
