The print hammer is striking between the letters. Two thing
you may have a petal, letter broken off. If its the same letter every time usually thats it, need new daisy wheel.
Or Homing is off when the wheel turns hammer hits between letters. Needs repair.
Or
Daisy wheel petals are bent.
If it is printing only the tops of the letters the platen has worked loose. Press down firmly on both ends it should snap into place. If the print is generally bad the plastic print solenoid cap is probably broken. We sell them for 20.00 includes shipping and instructions.
This usually indicates a need for a new print cartridge or the printer head is dirty. You can run the automatic printer cleaning utilities. Note: do them several times. Also, if you are a little handy, use Qtips and rubbing alcohol and clean the print head.
Take the offending cartridge out and get a piece of tissue paper on your finger. Gently run the print head of the cartridge over the tissue paper. You shold see full lines of ink coming out. If not, the cartridge is out. If you see a full line of ink, reinsert the cartridge and do a clean cartridge from the tools menu
This should work
