Sharp R308np microwave

Not sure why a microwave would have a piece of cardboard in it. Maybe packing material?

not familiar with that exact model .if the display went gradually dim and has a green vacuum florescent display ,these suffer 3 problems ,worn out display ;glass on display and filter window dirty ;and failed capacitors,suggest before replacing module ,unplug and put plug iside door ,then safely remove the back then take photo of display panel wireing then remove it clean inside the plastic eindow of display and display tube glass window .visual look at pcb you will see several round blue capacitors .note the values and voltage of these i.e 470u/25v. go to maplin and obtain replacements ,yhen get a friend who can solder to replace them all making sure to mark pcb with black marker ajacent black negative line on capacitors to ensure correct polarity then refit pannel and test .if no improcement replace complete panell

you must carefully and read your instr. manual if some material inside the microwave can be produce fire. Otherwise the microwave can be old and the electronic component deterioring and cause exploding.Some time the material inside from the microwaves, is corroded, and the irradiation can be produce Fire. Tes the indication given.

Microwave Oven Control Panel Repair Nationwide

Hello William,

I see you got back to me and I dowloaded the manual, but not sure how to repair this microwave, the inside light is burned out

and the display numbers do not light up correctly, as if some of the pixels are burn out. So I need to know what I need to replace ( LCD panel)? where is the bulb located and how do you remove and replace it, It should be easy once I know what and where to go

I found one for mind on the inside of the outside cover caseing. just need to unmount from wall and remove the six screws of the back to remove it.

There are two possible sources; the fan, which may have a loose sleeve bearing (fan must be replaced), or a transformer with loose laminations. The latter is a rare occurrance since most transformers are 'potted' or treated with epoxy resin.  
After pulling the plug, the housing will be fairly easy to remove with a half-dozen or so screws around the edge of the back panel.
If the fan is then accessible, you could block the blades with any insultating material and briefly turn the unit on. Keep fingers clear of ANY part inside; danger of electrocution. If the vibration is missing, then the fan is at fault.
