The important thing is the ampage. If you have your old car charger check the ampage output. A higher amp rating charger will be ok as the p550 will only draw the current it needs. The voltage you listed sounds like a house charger not a portable car charger. cars run at 12v and the output should be something like 5v dc - 1amp (normally anyway).
Find an ID, e.g., 'AC345', on the charger.
Do a search on www.eBay.ca, including the "descriptions" of each item, to see if somebody mentioned the same ID on something that they are trying to sell.
Or, Google-search for that ID, and see what turns up.
i hate when this happens but the main thing is pretty much let it reset it self by letting it run out of battery till it shuts off and plug it in i really dont understand why these units do it but it worked for mine
If you cant put it in service , you can try to resolder only needed pins for charging. here is a link with pinout : http://pinouts.ru/PortableDevices/mitac_cable_pinout.shtml
I sent my battery back and it was replaced by the supplier. The unit is fine now so the only conclusion I can come to is that it is due to a faulty battery....
