Open the case and ground yourself then:

1. Make sure all your expansion cards are seated well.
2. Make sure all your power plugs are ALL seated and seated well.
3. Make sure your RAM is seated well.
4. Make sure your front panel plugs are seated well and in the correct
spots.
(Basically make sure something above didn't come loose.)

5. Test the power supply or get it tested at a computer shop if none of
the above fixes it. Just because the green light comes on doesn't
mean it's not dead or dying.

6. Replace the CMOS Battery. (This is rare to stop a boot but it does
happen)

7. If none of the above reveals a solution then your motherboard is dead.

Good Luck!

SOURCE: Hav a pavilion a510n HP

I had a similar problem. Moved a 4-year-old desktop. Got the flashing light and no start. Quick fix is to unplug unit, open up case and unplug the large power connector on the motherboard. (On mine this is marked P1 and has a lock tab on one side that must be held in while unplugging.) Plug the 110-volt power and THEN plug the connector back into the motherboard. Button the case back up and all will be well until the next time you shut the power off to the computer.

The cause of this problem is likely that the battery on the motherboard is nearly dead. The flashing light is a warning to replace the battery. (It would have been nice if they would have put this into the user manual.) When you disconnect the power as described above, you interrupt the low-battery circuit. Replace the battery and all should be well.

Your power supply is bad--you will need to replace. I suggest looking at tigerdiect for a replacement.

It is unlikely to be the switch itself. Check that the memory is seated correctly on the motherboard, as it won't boot without it. Otherwise it sounds like the motherboard itself is shot. Sorry for the

My HP pavilion a620n won't power back on when I push button on the front, there is a little green light on the back that went off when I unplugged everthing attached to the back. Could this be a b

it could be a faulty switch or the bad lead connections

test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE SATA

MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty if its a flat ribbon 40pin ide

this will be the first to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure dust free connections

a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have a finishing point so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure the CPU has a secure dust free seating with thermal paste

make sure your ram modules are securely seated with no dust in the sockets also the Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket
on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

hope this helps

HP pavilion a705W pc desktop/ on back by power plugin, green light is on, push power button to turn on, light goes out and nothing happens. I opened panels and observed light again on back lite green and...

if you have installed a new hardware, that might be the cause. specially if it is a video card. The wattage of your power supply might not be enough to run the computer. try to remove newly installed hardware such as video card. If there is none, you may try to remove the power for the hard drive and the dvd drive and check if it will turn on. Just bood in to bios..

if that works, then it definitely is the power supply. it cant provide sufficient power to your equipment..

hope that works.

regards.

Bad Power supply. Look on the side of your current power supply and find the wattage rating, and buy one of the same rating or higher. Some place like newegg.

Pull the power cord out and press the power button on the PC to drain the power for 10 seconds. Then plug the power cord back in and turn the computer on. If still does not work, then the power supply may be blown out and needs replacement.

My hp pavilion a1224n desktop pc will not power up. The power supppy does show a green light on the back but the pc does nothing when I push the power button

Hi,

I don't know if you tried this, but there should be an on off switch on back of your desktop, which is the switch to the power supply. If you haven't tried it yet, check and see if the switch button on back is in the on or off position. If you are not sure, then press the switch in the opposite direction, and then press the power button and see what happens.
