We noticed a bad smell when our washer was drainning and was told to check the drain filter (a whirlpool) and we read how to check the drain filter on the internet and it was easy. My dad is experiencing the same bad smell with his Amana Front Loader and I am trying to figure out where the drain filter is located on his model so he can check it. Where is the drain filte located on the Amana Front Load Washer MODEL NFW7200TW?

This often is a drain hose that is too low or a drain hose that has been pushed too far down inside the stand pipe....the water is actually siphoning out of the washer. Do not "seal" the drain hose to the house plumbing pipe, this will also allow the water to be siphoned out.

The problem is probably the pump being clogged with an object. Typically it is a coin.
Remove the front bottom cover to access the pump. Remove the two hoses. Make sure you have a pan to catch the water from the hoses. You will be able to remove the objects after the hoses are removed.

Removed hose connecting to water pump at tub. Removed clog (ink pen, coins, etc). Replaced and ran washer. Ran through all cycles - no leaking, no pausing of cycles. Problem is resolved.
