Blinking bucket full light and humidity setting stuck at '01%'

I recently noticed that my Kenmore 50 pint (54501) dehumifier stopped working. If I unplug it then replug it in, it sounds like the compressor (and possibly the fan) is turning on, but after about 1-2 seconds, they shut off and the "Humidity setting" gets set at 01%. They bucket full red light blinks periodically (maybe every second or two). The "energy timer" and "fan speed" settings can be changed, but obviously don't do much without any fan or compressor activity. I cannot adjust the humidity setting at all. If I remove the (empty) bucket the display does not change, but there are some extra beeps that occur. Recently the unit was moved when a contractor was doing some work in that area. Any ideas what the problem could be?

In the end, I took it to sears and I think they fixed it for a pretty reasonable price. It was a while ago so I don't remember the exact price. I think they fixed the display panel.

Same exact problem as EKDIY. If control panel is bad, I'm guessing that is an easy fix: six screws and one ribbon cable. Waiting for reply. thanks.

Kenmore 54501. Have the same problem with the "01%" error. Thinking about fixing myself and spoke to CSR parts at Sears and they mentioned that most people get the "PWB (PCB) assembly main" part replaced. Does this sound like the 'brains' of the unit? Would like to know if anyone has replaced this and got the unit to work or not? BTW, part is $12 and sounds worth a try! THX!

I now have the same problem, e.g., blinking full light, .01% humidity, etc.; am trying to determine from the above msg traffic, was the display panel or the PWB the fix?

    Many thx, jgolf

shows P-1 error code; can't switch to Normal, can't set humidity, panel seems inoperative. Bucket is empty, manually depressing full switch does nothing. second Comfort-Aire unit to fail in under 2 yrs run time; same issue

You've posted in DEhumidifier section.

Sounds like you have a Humidifier. Please post there.

Although why you want to add humidity to the tropics is beyond me.

01% humidity

When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor starting. Do you hear that second click?

The compressor is located in the rear bottom on the right side looking at the machine. After you press the start button and the blower fan comes on, bend over near the back of the unit and listen for the "click".

Kenmore 54701 (70 pint) dehumidifier stopped running

the lowest setting for % of humidity is 35% on that unit... sounds like with all the other errors that the IC board is bad (the Control circuit board behind the displays)
