How to remove stove top to replace element on JES8850BAS
Is there a service manual or any other documentation available on how to remove the glass stove top on a Jenn-air JES8850BAS in order to replace one of the elements. From parts diagrams it looks like must a few screws on each side need to be removed and not the whole front control panel.

You have a non-standard prototype model that only exists in your house. You will need a service call. The control knob needs replacing, or the burner element under the glass needs replacing.
Electric, I presume. Disconnect power to stove, open backsplash, remove knob, replace control unit.(usually universal type). Available appliance repair shop. Careful with 220volt power!!!!
THe glass top is just that, glass! If the elements beneath it are not producing enough heat your utensils will not cook. Pull off the glass top by removing fasteners (either in the front of the stove or under the back panel of the stove). Then, turn on each electric burner to see if it turns RED hot. If not, wait till everything COOLS and reseat each heating elememt and retest those that failed. If that doesn't solve the problem, you can buy heating elements at Home Depot or other stores...
yes u can,, usually glass tops are fairly expensive though 200-900 dollars just for the glass plus service and labor to install it unless u feel comfortable pullin it out and removing all screws around base and removing glass and transfering all the elements over and switches as most have the elements mounted to glass underneath. u can get a price and part number for the glass top by going to sears.com and go to parts and service and look up parts by model number to get info.. model number will be underneath on sticker.. hope this helps.. you can do this yes but like it said usually its fairly expensive...most had a 5yr parts warranty if that applies to you just dont tell them u broke it say it occured natuarally as they wont cover it if u damaged it urself by droppin sometin onn it.
You can buy just the glass for your glasstop stove. I too need to replace my glass...I have a whilpool electric glasstop. Its not cheap...may just buy new stove. I priced just the glass for my whilpool at the cheapest I can find for $320.00. Thats a lot. Mind you its not the elements under the glass..its just the glass! So...idk bout you, but a whole new stove might be my best option. If you want to price the glass for your model just keyword search your number and brand of stove and type replacement glass. GOODLUCK! :)
The top can be replaced but it is expensive. Your range is less than a year old call a local servicer to see if there may be warranty available to cover this problem it may not cost you anything. Good luck.
Sure can. One element can easily be replaced. If your model number is correct, you can find replacement parts at searspartsdirect.com. Type in your model number in the Search menu and the surface elements can be found under the "Cooktop Parts" heading. I do not know which element you have that is bad, but they are identified as item 12 and by wattage rating. Use care when selecting to make sure you identify the correct element. The smaller elements have a lower wattage rating than the larger elements. There's also an illustrated view for easy part identification. Some parts come with directions on how to replace. If no instructions are available, or if you need further guidance, go to my profile page and click on "Tips and Tricks. I have a write up listed there on how to replace a glass cooktop. Those same instructions can be used to replace a single element. Instead of removing all the elements and cooktop, you will only have to remove and replace the one element. Just make sure you unplug the range before starting and handle the elements with extreme caution. They are considered fragile. It may also help to have a second person assist. I hope this answers some of your questions. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.
The glass top can be change, but be aware that if you have all your cooking element fixed togetter, this could cost plenty of $$$. If your heating element can be remove easyly, you are a lucky owner.
