Sir my ecs A530 laptop asks for my current password. I entered my password but it was not recognized. i try to reformat it but the reformatting wont continue. it doesnt detect my hard disk. we test the hard disk and found out it was working well.. the man we asked to test the drive told us that maybe the defect was with the hard disk connector which was connected with the motherboard. can you help me??? and i also wonder if the password asked was it the manufacturer's password??? I already made it sure that the numlock and capslock were off.
Use a cmos crack software it worked for me when i upgraded my bios
If you have forgotten your password and it is stored in the BIOS, then you can reset the BIOS to the factory default state by removing the BIOS battery, wait for over 1/2 hour for the BIOS to discharge its charge, then reconnect the battery. You will need to reconfigure the BIOS before Windows opens.

u need to rest ur password or to format ur HDD sorry ur quastion is not clear
1 if its about ur password
u have to bot in the safe mode {f8} and try to log as admin. than rest ur password
if u couldn't log as admin.
than u need to make a boot disk to reset ur password
2 if it's about formating the HDD
u could do it under DOS or from any partition soft wear

to rest a bios password ther is some methoed to do so
1 useing something called back door bios password {and i don't think ther is any for acer }
2 resetting the bios password useing softwear {so for acer machein u can use this softwear CmosPwd -- http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/CmosPwd }
3 resetting the bios password useing hardwear { and that's simply by takeing off the motherbored battery for some time up to 30 mins }

First: the password was rejected, probably cause you were with the (Num Lock) locked, or (Caps Lock).
When you try to format , if you are not using an operating system that have drivers for SATA disk , the install will tell you that there is not a disk in the system. You can use Vista to format and reinstall the system, or a Windows XP with SATA drivers compiled before, (inside the CD).

It depends what kind of password is that, if you are dealing with a password witch is being asked when it's turned on and called power on password or what (last time I saw something like that 2-3 mounths ago) than you have almost 0 chance to get in to your computer without it. In that case I strongly suggest you to check your papers, no matter if there's no more warrenty left, call the hp support line and as far as I know they have their own passwords and they'll tell you if you can prove that you are the rightful owner of the laptop not a thief.
If it's just a windows password, than it's a piece of cake, just go google and type ophcrack, download the live cd of theirs, and burn it to disc on another machine, use that cd to start your laptop and make sure that it boot's from it, it will automaticly try to crack the password and will show you if found one, (most passwords are stored in 2 pices, you'll see, on the screen, you'll need to use both halves of the password case sensitively as shown.)
