I lost my installer of my microtek scanner
I can't send it to your email address, but I can post it here for you.
Before you begin downloading the needed software, I implore you to disconnect the Microtek scanner from your computer. Unplug the USB cable FROM the computer.
[It isn't wise to leave a USB cable unplugged, and connected to a computer]
Also, if the scanner is turned on, turn it off. Unplug it from power.
Are you using Windows XP? (Either version. Home or Pro, doesn't matter)
If so, this is Microtek Support, and the download page for the ScanWizard 5; version 6.32 software, for your Microtek Scanmaker 3840,
http://support.microtek.com/downloads/drv_specific.phtml?cnntn=c&x=11&y=16&slct_os=8&step=2&prod=32&byctgy=1&drvgrp=489
Under the Description heading, (In the blue bar), you will see -
ScanWizard 5 version 6.32
To the right you will see - Main Installer, in blue.
Left-click on Main Installer
A small window will come up.
Opening drv_sw5_v6_32_ad.exe
Click on Save File
If you do not have your downloads set to save to your My Documents folder, (Start>My Documents),
this file will be saved to your desktop screen.
In either place, when you see the file, Double-click right on it.
The Installation Wizard will come up, and lead you through installing. (I advise just clicking on Next, Next, and Finish. The Installation Wizard will put the file in the appropriate place. You do not have to make any changes)
This software download has the needed drivers.
On the same page, (You may want to bookmark the page for future reference), you will also see a Help Guide listed.
It's the third file down that is listed.
ScanWizard 5 Online Help
Should you not be able to download these files, I suggest it is your anti-virus settings. Sometimes an anti-virus program, will recognize certain downloads as a virus, and not bonfide software.
After you have installed the ScanWizard 5 version 6.32 software, you may be asked to restart your computer. If not restart it.
After Windows is running again, and all your Start programs, plug the USB cable from the scanner into your computer. Now plug the scanner into power.
WAIT 1 minute, then turn the scanner on.
You should see a pop-up out of your task bar, at the bottom of your monitor screen. "Found New Hardware", and perhaps another one, "Found Microtek scanner"
Should you need any additional help with this, please come back, and post it in a comment.
