Can't delete songs from Sandisk M240

Got an M240 for Christmas. Daughter has one for a couple of months and hasn't had any problems. I loaded a few CD's onto it (via Explorer per the quickstart manual). Started deleting them so I replace them with smaller files. Got most removed but realized I couldn't delete all of them and the M240 showed no files in Explorer. They were on the player but Explorer showed the player to be empty. I got *real* smart and thought I'd just delete the Music folder (and thereby its contents) and then recreate the folder in Explorer. I was able to delete the folder, but the songs were still in the player and it would not let me create the Music folder. Is there a way to reboot the M240 and start over? Thanks Donzo

Thanks. I sort of worked through it and was able to delete all the files. Then, the dreaded 'Locks up at the SANSA logo' hit and I took it back. Thanks anyway. Don

PROBLEME OF MEMORY.

My Sandisk Sansa m240 lost all the songs and then I could not delete them. I was able to laod up new songs, but there was no spare memory. I was able to fix this issue by re-formating.

Using windows explorer right click on the "Sandisk sansa M240" and click "format".

Now working OK.

Can't delete songs

The sansa has two USB modes. If you load tracks in one mode you have to be in the same mode to see them in explorer and also be able to delete them. Took me ages to figure this out. From the main menu, go to Settings then select USB and toggle between "MSC" and "Auto Detect". You should then be able to see the hidden tracks. I have firmware 2.2.5A installed so you might want to check that too.

I now only use the Sansa in MSC mode as it seems to crash Winamp if I use it in Autodetect.
