The display screen on the dryer reads 8.8. and the machine will not turn on.
I had this problem last year on several cold days (14 degrees F). I solved it by heating up the laundry room with a portable heater and heating up the display console with a hair dryer. Within minutes my dryer was back to normal and would run.
However...I am now having this problem again on cold days (25 degrees F) a year later and I so far am unable to trick my dryer into running. This time I might need to call the repair man.
Sounds like a bad board or console

8.8 is reflected i nthe lcd and it wont turn on. I tried unplugging it to no avail. Help, I have company coming
i have had the 8.8 come and go before but now it is remaining for a couple of days. i guess it is repairman time unfortunately.
I am having the same problem, but it is not from cold. It has happened in the past, but eventually goes away and operates normally. This time, however, it is staying!
I have experienced the same problem for the last year. It happens intermittently and at one time I did think it was due to the cold weather, but all my tricks are not working this time. I also tried heating up the room and using a warm blow dryer to heat up the back and front of the panel area. I tried unplugging and replugging the electrical connections and even left it unplugged over night. Nothing is working this time. :(
