Kenmore Ultra Wash Diswasher - wont move past initial cycle

The dishwasher starts up like normal. It fills with hot water. However it will not move to the next cycle. The dishwasher makes a buzzing sound for 2 minutes and then shuts off. I can then drain it, but nothing else.

Any suggestions on what is causing hte problem? I hate to toss out a good dishwasher if this is only a small problem. However I will not spend several hundred on a repair.

Kenmore Ultra Wash 665.15922 (or 23, 24, 29). Purchased by previous owner in 2002.

Found a small plastic piece that got through the screens. That jammed the motor which caused the motor to burn out.

    Hi-

I believe I have the same problem. Mine is Kenmore model 665. 16582200. Is there a way for me to check the pump for blockage before calling in a repair guy? Thanks!

Motor trying to start. blockage in pump, or bad motor!

currently working same problem. mine runs after draining and filling 3 times. believe it's temperature related. happens more often in winter. add boiling water and try, to see if temperature is fault. Use drain function after failure due to float sensor turning machine off if too full of water.

temperature reference is for machines that shutoff after filling, buzzing sounds like bad motor.

My kenmore diswasher model#363.153221100 when i start the wash cycle starts to fill up with water but then drains the water back out immediately and the wash cycle never starts.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

This problem is caused when the motor goes bad and needs replacement. The control will fill water and then sends signal to the motor to start a cycle, if it won't work then it will drain the water and so won't start the cycle. However, it can also be a bad door latch-lock assembly as if the control senses that the door is not closed it won't start the cycle. If you hear any humming buzzing sound from the bottom of the unit then replace the motor if not then replace the latch assembly. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Normal wash light blinking, d/w wont start

Wish I could solve this, as I'm having the same problem too. Normal light blinks not matter which wash button is pressed. Cancel light will light, but still NOTHING happens. Same model as yours.

Brand new ultra wash HE stuck in one cycle

Does it fill with HOT water (check after fill stops)? Did Sears install the washer? If so, have them troubleshoot the problem. It's obviously bringing water in. Are there any error lights or codes? May need to replace the control unit.

Smelly dishes from Kenmore Ultra Wash

If you post the model number of your dishwasher plus its approximate age (in years) I can help more.

But the most common cause is a weakening pump motor. On many dishwashers, the wash pump motor is also the drain motor. Replacing that motor / pump assembly will solve the problem. While you are replacing the pump, check the heating element to confirm that it is not shorted out or broken.

For now, add a cap full of bleach to the water _after_ the initial dishwasher fill cycle ends and the wash cycle begins. White vinegar would also work, but this will not fix your problem.

Good Luck!

Dishwasher not moving past sensing cycle

humming noise sounds like a solenoid is not snapping in, this is not something that the average or even above average homeowner can fix. Solenoids go bad, they are a moving part that are activated by electricity, can be dangerous to mess with as water and electricity don't mix. Get a repairman or get a new one.

there is no real way of checking the keypad. Not with a meter but if you push normal wash for example and it does not respond this usually means that you have a bad keypad

Make sure you run water in your sink until it is hot before you start the dishwasher. On the newer dishwashers they will fill and drain until the water is hot enough so it takes longer if it starts with cold water. Normal time for a basic wash could take about 45 min.

Clean light keeps blinking and I can't start a new cycle

Puppa, clear the fault by pressing the keys in this order: high temp scrb--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry. Or, depending on your model..Sani rinse--air dry--sani rinse--air dry. The dishwasher will enter the service mode. Let it do it's thing or advance it through it by pressing the start key. The fault came from the board not sensing a rise in the water temp. Make sure to run the hot water before starting the dishwasher. The heating element runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so make sure the d/w is level and the door switches are all making. The element itself could be at fault. Catriver...post back
