The model number is GEW9250PW1. Sometime I have to go through several cycles of depressing and holding the control and start buttons before it displays lights and starts. I depress/hold the end of cycles for 3-10 seconds, the door is closed and secured. It just gets in a mood and may take 3-5 minutes of pressing the control/start buttons before it displays lights and starts.
Thanks for your help.

Anra, this is a classic symptom of a failed even heat board. I've seen a lot of these failures out there. Easy to change out. Check out this link. Catriver..post back http://www.repairclinic.com/0080.asp

it appears that someone bent the door or the hinge. that is my first guess.

there is a sensor in the exhaust line in the dryer, near the motor. this tells the heating element to shut off when it gets to a certain temp, either during reg cycle or if the exhaust gets clogged, it is meant as a safety measure, but it sounds like yours is bad so the heating element never shuts off. it is not an expensive part and easy to replace

My dryer turns on but when I click start, it simply clicks, but doesn't run. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Hi,
Ok, lets first check your thermal fuse.
You would need to take off the lower front access panel under your door, then take off the duct assembly#45, by removing the two #11 screws as shown in your parts diagram here: Bulkhead parts for Whirlpool GEW9250PW1
Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first before opening it up and ohm testing.
Then you will need a multimeter to ohm your thermal fuse. Its #59 in that parts diagram, take both wires off the thermal fuse first.
Here's the thermal fuse for your model you can order here if needed:
Thermal Fuse WP3392519
This video shows how to test it:
Let us know what you find.
If the thermal fuse tests good, We've had a few members report door switch problems.
You can check it for continuity with a multimeter to make sure.
Here's that door switch you can order:
Door Switch WP8283288
It shows on Page 4-6 in your repair manual I posted a link to below how to access it to check/change it. Make sure your dryer is unplugged!
Push the button in on the door switch with one meter probe on COM and the other meter probe on NO and see if it reads. Normal ohms is 0-1.
If the thermal fuse and door switch check fine, then its the control board.
Here's the control board for your model you can order here:
Main Control Board WP8546219
I'm attaching the repair manual pdf for the Whirlpool Duet dryer below.
It shows how to get access to the control board on page 4-2 through 4-4.
Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first.

I have a Whirlpool Duet Dryer model GEW9250PLO. Same thing. It will just start beeping indiscriminately. It started by beeping and locking up and then the lights would all go dim and unusual. I investigated, cleaned out the lint path with a vacuum, and upon further scrutiny, I did notice that the vent hose came off the exterior vent and I reattached that. Then I unplugged the dryer, and reset the control button. Now, it seems to not want to work during the automatic cycle. As stated above, it beeps strangely and will lock control while drying......what is wrong?
We have a Whirlpool Duet GEW9250PW1 less than two years old. It did not want to work during the automatic cycle. We have gone through the diagnostic test with no error codes. Now, it will go through the drying cycle, with the end of cycle beeping from low to high settings throughout. It cuts off at the end of the drying cycle, but will cut back on by itself if left plugged in.
Ours is very similar. How do you run the diagnostics?
Anyone found a solution?
