If the Console is NTSC then it is not compatible with the broadcast standard for SA, and only NTSC games will work in it. All games in SA should be of a PAL I Standard, so they will not work in an NTSC Console.

Well i bought a game called 2k8 basketball here in philippines, but i bought my xbox on australia, then i tryed my game and it said, ( The disc's region code is incorrect for this consol ) so how can i...

Sorry you can't fix it. Most games are Region specific meaning that they are playable only on Xbox 360 systems from the specific region that you have. If you bought your Xbox 360 in Australia then it is likely PAL system and can only play Pal games.

"Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:

* NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
* NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
* PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand"

If the game you have doesn't match with your Xbox 360 Region then you won't be able to play it. (but a few games are playable on multiple regions, check list below)

Check out this site prior to buying games to help identify which games that aren't PAL might be still playable on your system.: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-00-3-xbox360_compatibility_guide-49-en-84-t.html

Notice that NBA 2K8 US version is not compatible with PAL system. If you had bought the US version of NBA 2K9 then it would have worked.

Put a game in and it said region code for disk incorrect

First Step

Check the formats here supported by your Xbox 360 drive.

If the DVD's region and your Xbox console's region do not match, then you may face this issue of region code error.

If it does match, check playing other discs or the same disc in another player which would help you ascertain the exact nature of the problem you are facing.

I have a PAL machine which allows me to play Region free NTSC-US, NTSC-Japan games.

For further information you can also take a look at this Microsoft support document

Wont play on my xbox 360 new hour of victory game says wrong region wont play

This sadly means the game and Xbox 360 console aren't the same region. (Rather the game is region locked, meaning unless you have a Xbox 360 that plays those regions, the game is non-playable because the console can't read the disc.) There really isn't any solutions for this, other than take the game back to the store and ask for your money back because the region of the game doesn't play on your Xbox 360. Always make sure when buying Xbox 360 games that it's the right region code. (Or that it's a region free coded game) There are a few games like that out, one being Borderlands for example.

If it says PAL on the cover of the game for example, the game covers most of Asia, Africa, South America, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Western Europe. (List of common PAL regions can be found here.)
There are a few other region codes for games, so you better make sure you are buying the ones for your region.
Hope this was of some help.

I just purchased a 360 elite while in the UK now I cant play us games or movies. What can be done?

Nothing, sorry. You're dealing with two incomaptible video formats and regions (US - NTSC, Region 1, UK - PAL, Region 2). I'm assuming that the 360 is like the PS3 in that you have the option for either PAL or NTSC output in the settings but you can't change what the console reads. I'm very sorry.

Zone code

    1. Determine whether the game disc is from the same region as the region where you purchased the Xbox console. To determine the region, view the back of the game package. Look for one of the following codes:
    2. NTSC: North America and South America (United States, Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil)
    • NTSC-J: Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan)
    • PAL: Europe, South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand
    1. If this symptom occurs with only one or two discs, search the Microsoft Knowledge Base (http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 (http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1) ) for the specific game title or titles. If you find a known problem, follow the instructions in that article.
    2. If the game disc worked in the past, the disc might now be dirty or damaged. Clean or replace the disc to see if this resolves the problem.
    3. If this behavior occurs with only one or two discs and no known problem exists, return the disc or discs to the retail store where you made the purchase.
    4. Turn off and unplug your console, remove the Xbox Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and any attached memory units (MUs), and then reconnect your console. Try the disc again. If this procedure seems to resolve the problem, turn off and disconnect your console, reattach the HDD and any MUs, and then delete any saved games for the game with which you had problems.. Note If you can do this, move the saved games to a different memory unit.
    5. If you have this problem only with original Xbox games (games that are designed for original Xbox, not Xbox 360), the original Xbox backward compatibility update may be missing from the HDD. To resolve this problem, download and burn a copy of the backward compatibility update to a disc, and then install the update to your console

    American PS3 in South Africa

    Hey thomas952,

While they may not be region-coded, PS3 consoles and games sold within the United States are going to be NSTC compliant, instead of the PAL format used in the United Kingdom and South Africa. What this means is that in order for any game to display properly (or even operate) it must be purchased from the same region of the world as the console itself - NTSC games can only be played on NTSC consoles.

    Hope this helps you out.

    Sincerely,
    Aaron
