Broken ps2 connector ACK-595 Keyboard

I accidently ripped the ps2 connector off of my Adesso ACK-595 mini keyboard, so I was going to replace the cable. But I'm not sure which wires go to which pins on the connector. The wire colors are red, green, yellow, and white. Does ps2 use a standard color code for +data, +clock, Vcc and Gnd?
Thanks

Same problem. I figured out that the red is for positive and white it negative. http://www.bbdsoft.com/keyboard.html has some info but they don't list where the yellow or green wires goes.

My computer wont read my mouse or keyboard

Are these wired or wireless, USB or PS2 connections..

PS2 Connectors should only be worked when the computer is Turned Off
USB can be Hot Swapped..

If USB try another USB port ..If PS2 make sure they weren't swapped by accident
Check your BIOS
Try another another Keyboard / Mouse

How to hook up keyboard to my dell Inspiron 530

Keyboard come with two different connection options these days. The old PS2-style (circular with ~5 pins) port are less common on current machines these days. The Dell Inspiron 530 is one of them; you need a USB keyboard or a PS2 to USB adapter. This adapter, http://www.amazon.com/Adesso-Adapter-connects-connectors-ADP-PU21/dp/B00008ZPED , is an example of how you would connect your old keyboard to your new computer. There are USB ports on the front and back of the tower.

If you bought the computer new, it should have come with a USB keyboard.

I hope this helps.

When I hit any key, it throws in a bunch of asterisks

Could be either a short in the Keyboard or it is not USB adapter compatible, some mice are like this. Plug it into a computer with PS2 port and see if it still malfunctions, if it does then the keyboard has a short, if not, it is incompatible with a USB adapter. Keyboards send two codes whenever a key is pressed, one for the key itself and one to let the computer know it the Shift/Ctrl/Alt keys are being pressed.

How to use keys

There is a BLUE-coloured 'FN' key on the bottom-left of the keyboard. Hold that key down, and then press one of the "blue" keys, to get the "alternate" meaning of that key.

Old Solidtek ACK-595 keyboard needs maintenance

yes you can lubricate the buttons by simply popping them off and using some sort of gear grease, white Lithium grease works great. just apply a small bead on the bottom tip of the key and reinsert it.......those older keyboards are set up a little different so they do need cleaning too. While you have all the buttons off, take the time to clean the entire keyboard as thoroughly as possible with an old toothbrush and some isopropol alcohol. when u get it all back together you will prolly still have to depress the buttons a little harder than you would expect, thats just how they are.
Good Luck and pls rate this post.....
