Maytag Performa Plus-light out and dryer won't come on.

I had dried one load of clothes and was getting ready to put in another load when I noticed that the light inside was out. I went ahead and put the wet clothes in the dryer thinking it was only the light that had blown out but when I tried to start the dryer....nothing happened.

Thanks.

Yuvon

p.s. I don't find our product listed here. We have a Maytag Performa Plus Model# PYE4500AYW. I've selected the PAV2200 since ours wasn't listed. Thanks.

SOURCE: Maytag Performa Dryer Mod PYE4500AYW Has power but will not start

check your door switch. if it is ok, get this kit part number LA-1053. This is a very common solution for this dryer. the thermostat fix kit will contain a thermostat and two other parts....one is for gas and the other is for electric. just read the instructions and you will know what one is for your dryer. these parts can be accessed by lifting the lid and looking to the rear of the cabinet past the drum. MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG THE DRYER FIRST

SOURCE: maytag performa PAV2200 - cold water fill does not

Try removing the cold water supply hose at the back of the machine. There are usualy screnes in the connection inside the water inlet valve that you can pull out. Look inside the threaded fitting on the machine. Clean and replace it. If that is not it. Open the cold water valve and make sure your home water supply flows through the hose. Check the wires at the water inlet valve on the cold side for voltage (inside the machine) when trying to operate in cold water fill cycle. You can also run it on hot and check the voltage for comparison if you aren't sure of what voltage you are looking to have. If it powers up on the cold fill, then the inlet valve is bad and needs replaced. Be cautious as there is AC power that can kill when testing.

SOURCE: maytag performa washer grinding noise

Sounds like the water pump is going out on it. The part runs about $80 and should only take about 45 minutes to install.

Dryer not heating as it should. Gets warm, but takes several cycles to dry clothes

Could be 2 things... either your heat source is out of repair or your vent is blocked. Since you say it only gets warm I'll assume the problem is with the gas coils inside the unit. These parts are replaceable

Electric drier takes 2 to 3 cycles to dry one normal size load

Have you tried cleaning the actual inside of the drier?
When you use drier sheets the wax on the sheets melts onto your clothes and makes them soft, but the wax often gets stuck in the holes of the drier making it incapable of drying the clothes in one load. Try scrubbing the inside of your drier with some hot water.

Unplug the dryer.
Replace the thermal fuse and high limit switch located at the heater element.
The parts come as a set.
Raise the top lid of the dryer. The parts are at the back left side.

It sounds like you need a water pump!
See if it's pumping water next time you do load by looking at the discharge hose going to the drainage pipe and get back to me!

Maytag performa dryer takes a long time to dry clothes on auto

What you have is a obstructed dryer vent. If you remove the vent hose from the unit you will see moisture inside it. This is why your unit isn't drying. If the heater has no air flow the overload is tripped. Check your vent for any blockage most of the problem is at the outside end of your vent. there's a flap or chicken wire you may find the obstruction there. Or you can use a leaf blower connect it to the inside vent, cover the outside vent with pantyhose. ( so you don't get lint allover your yard ) and you can clear your like that way. Good luck hope this helps
