The clicking sound tells me that you do not have a fully charged battery. Remove the battery and take it to Auto Zone Autoparts. Allow them to give your battery a slow charge, over night. When you go back for the battey, have them do a battery charge test. There should be a no charge for the battery overnight charge or the battery charge test. The batery charge test will let them know if the battery is holding the charge or if you have a bad battery. Good luck.

SOURCE: Battery good, wont turn over, just a click when try to start

it is most likley starter relay or starter.with vehicle in park and e-brake on have someone tap on the starter with hammer while your trying to start.if starter starts to crank then you know the starter is on the way out.if starter does not crank it may already be shot.srarter relay is on fire wall check power + ground.

try over riding the starter relay on the fender ,it has one there right?. dont go to a mechanic yet. the engine aint seized. if it doesnt have this relay then i would get the alternator tested. if you want to test it yourself it can be costly for the right equip. autozone usually tests for free. i dont know were you live so if theres not an autozone. let me know if you cant get it tested.

2003 taurus lights dimed &suddenly died as if there was no battery. I tried to jump start it but i got nothing but clicking from curcuit breakers by the battery compartment

Yes... Your battery died. But why?

First, leave the cables on longer, a good 10 or 15 minutes. When you hear that clicking noise, it's because there is not enough power available to turn the starter. It means you need more power. Leave the jumper cables on for a few more minutes and you will have the power you need to start the car.

Once the car is started, remove the jumper cables and pull the positive (Red) cable off the terminal on your battery. If the car stays running, get a new battery. If the car dies immediately after pulling the positive battery cable off, then your altenator has gone out. The altenator is the electrical generator that provides electricity to your lights, engine, stereo, AC, etc. It should be putting out about 14.2 volts. Since your car is a 12 volt system, there are a couple of extra volts to spare, which are used to recharge the battery. It takes a lot of power from a battery to start the vehicle. That's why the alternator is there to takeover after startup, plus recharge your battery in the process.

My car wont start light come on dash works when turn over engine it just click click click then nothing tried new battery dot work i have a 2002 ford taurus please help cant afford machinic

Hello. Begin by cleaning the battery cable connections with emery cloth. do both ends, the ends at the battery posts and the other ends too. Now make sure everything is really tight and try it again. If you still get the clicking sound, your starter is bad and will need to be replaced. A rebuilt starter is a good choice.

2002 Ford Tauras SES

sounds like battery dead. it died while running then it an alternator. you should get a battery light on steady when running if alternator has failed but not always on a ford... you need a meter of some type. 12.6 not running fully charged12.2 25%. running at least 13.8-14.6 at the battery.

2002 Ford Taurus has no power. No head lights no dome light no horn blah blah. Ok first of all my cars alarm kept going off by itself off and on for 2 weeks. I come out to start the car and it goes click...

One possibility is that the battery terminals are either corroded or not tight to the battery posts. Second, the battery itself may have seen its days. Try another battery of simply replace it. If the problem still exists, the have a mechanic inspect the main wiring from the battery to fuse block. Your alarm device may have its own battery source. The tick tick are the cars systems relays trying to engage, but there is not enough power for them to engage.

My 98 taurus wont start

Check the battery cable connections. If they are loose or have corrosion on them, it would result in what you describe. Also check the wires to the starter, same thing, you need to have tight, clean connections. This should be the problem, let me know how you make out. Curt
