Ice maker won't stop making ice

My ice maker continues to make ice even when the bin is full. Ice then overflows the bin and drops into the rest of the freezer. It doesn't appear that the lever arm is raising when the bin gets full. There is a separate wire that loops over the bottom of the lever arm, but it seems to just rotate back and forth and doesn't appear to help to raise the lever arm. I've tried taking off the separate wire, in case it was just getting caught in the ice, preventing the arm from raising, but that does no good either. I've also tried removing the shelf just above the ice maker, in case it was preventing the arm from raising, but the bin still overflowed.

Whirlpool side by side / older model / 1991.

Ice maker does not stop making ice.

It appears that the shutoff arm has to be lifted too high by the ice before it trips the shutoff switch.By that time the ice is already over flowing the bucket.Purchased a new shut off arm with a plastic flap but still same problem. Is there a way to adjust the shutoff switch itself so that the shutoff arm only has to raise slightly to click the switch to off position.

Where would I find a modified lever assy to correct the problem I'm having with the ice maker on my LG LFC25760 French Door Refrigerator?

    Thank You, Jared

I have the same problem except that my fridge uses an infared sensor instead of a lever arm. What could be the cause of my ice maker to continue to make ice even if the bin is full or when I manually turn it to the off postion.

I have had my third ice maker installed yesterday. I am so hopeful each time but this effort failed. LG even sent me a new bucket. No luck. Please let me know if anyone has resolved this problem. Thanks

LG side by side ice maker keeps making ice once bin is full. The plastic lever arm that I suspect should trigger the shut off seems to be in the wrong position. (always up except when new ice is dropped).

Is there a diagram available of the proper postion, when in normal ice making mode?

I have the same problem. My icemaker arm is always straight down. It never rotates up to then fall (to determine if it should continue or stop making ice), so it always makes ice. It does stop when I manually move the arm up.

OK, there's two possible issues but you have to figure out what is happening. Does the ice maker continue to make ice forever and would fill up the whole freezer section in time OR does the ice maker just "over make" ice that overfills the bin which then falls out? If the ice maker just keeps making ice you need the motor module replaced but if it can be turned off by moving the lever up then you need the "modified lever assy." that is on our service bulletins.

My new Alamo 420 lb/day Commercial Ice Cube Maker Machine w/Ice Bin continues to switch to ice bin full mode after dropping some ice.

oops, operates an electrical switch to stop the cycle. the other method is that the accumulating ice contacts a thermostat bulb and the lower temp created by this contact with ice stops the cycle. When ice is removed the t/stat warms up and restarts the cycle. Hope this is of use to you.

6ED2FHGXVA ice maker making too much ice, why?

That is the dual water control valve that is leaking water to the ice maker. The ice maker will only fill for 7.5 seconds and then the water is turned off but if the valve is bad it will continue to leak water drips until it overflows the ice maker and forms an ice wonderland inside your freezer. There is no picture of the valve but here is a link to the valve part=> http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=q2qDfOBHgas&subid=&offerid=92089.1&type=10&tmpid=2111&RD_PARM1=http&RD_PARM2=%253A%252F%252Fwww.appliancepartspros&RD_PARM3=.com%252Fwhirlpool-valve-inlt-w10158157-ap4371188.html

Ice maker is overflowing

Older icemakers have a bar that drops from above your ice bin; once the bin is full the bar is raised and trips turning the ice maker off so that it won't dump. If your's is this style, try manually pushing the free end of the bar upward so that it locks in the upward position. Newer ice makers with the ice bin in the door have a small panel that moves to the open position when the door opens and closes when the door closes. Mine also includes an optical sensor that is visible when this panel is in the closed position. Try placing a non-clear tape over the optical sensor (don't know if that will work or not but worth a shot). If effective in stopping the ice flow then call a repairman. If none of this works, turn off the water supply coming out of the wall to your freezer.

Free standing 25lbs ice machine

It sounds as though the bin therrmisotr is defectice, which as you stated the unit is not sensing the temperature and just continues making ice.

The second issue would appeare to be a drain issue, it should be a gravity drain into either an open drain or a sealed pump.
