84 john deere 410b stalls out

Wont stay running, give it gas wont rev up and stalls. then, one day it will be fine, next, same thing. Starts right back up, then immediately stalls. changed filter, no help

Is there a screen that could be clogged?

  • tomfitzy May 15, 2012

Thank you. I removed the cap and it stalled right out. I put it back on, and about an hour later I tried it would at least run but not rev up. This happened before. Then it was working perfectly. Now, it's doing it again.

Could be something floating around but did you fuel it one day and not the other try and run it with the gas cap off there is a vent on the cap that gets plugged

I narrowed it down to the front bleeder on the hydraulic pump under radiated. I turned it and engine slowed down and then raised it back up and engIne revved up. Engine power back, hydraulics are so so. Perhaps I have to bleed it longer?

SOURCE: I have a John Deer L155, just tuned it up new

This problem sounds like you may not be getting fuel. This tractor may have a fuel shut of solenoid in the carb float bowl. if this is the case... after then engine warms up and the solenoid gets hot it may have a open in the coil and will not open the needle valve in the carb until it cools off. Easy way to check this is when it does not start for you turn the ign key on to run and then back off you should here a clicking sound if the solenoid is working. If you dont hear a clicking sound the solenoid is probably bad... you can prove this by waiting for it to cool off and trying the same thing if you hear the solenoid valve actuating then the solenoid is bad

SOURCE: John Deere L118 stalls after it runs

2 problems are common with this machine. One is the earlier machines had bad placement of the fuel line at the tank causing it to get pinched off and restrict fuel flow.It may get pinched at the very top of tank where line starts or between very rear of tank and frame.2nd problem is with the decompression setting of the valves causing engine to have too much compression at start up.Set your valves when piston is a 1/4 inch past top-dead-center.Set your intakes at .004.

SOURCE: john deere 84 410B turbo, wont drive up an incline

Try changeing the hydrolic and transmission filters, also recheck the fluid level.Check the fluid level with all cylinders retracted and if it is overfull then drain it to the top of the full line.

SOURCE: John Deere 445 Garden Tractor, starts immediately,

could be bad gas, but it sounds like a choke problem. did it sit over the winter with less than a half tank of gas in it. try putting some rubbing alcohol in the fuel or draining the tank and disconnecting the gas line so you can drain the gas out of the carb. also check the gap of the spark plug and make sure that is correct. when was the last time there was fresh oil put in. also check the air filter, it could be full of dirt.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the ideas. I will try your suggestions. Tractor used for snow blowing during the winter and gas did not stay in it long. Good ideas!"

SOURCE: Stalls after 20 mins. of running fine. (Starving for gas)

From the rear of machine look at the top left of fuel tank for the fuel line.Where line comes out of tank see if it is pinched where it goes down between frame and tank, grab line and see if it moves freely. If that is OK loosen fuel cap after 10 minutes of run time to see if your vent hole in cap is working. These are 2 common problems for the L series mowers.

Hi All I own a John Deere 1640, 2wd tractor. On start in the morning the hydraulic pump is straining whining untill it sounds like it's primed and then fine for the day.

First check all areas that the oil would run through and check for leaks. If there is oil running out any place that could be your problem to check out. The oil has to be going some place.

Why wont 97 expedition eddie bauer run after startup?

Have you checked the fuel pump for any blockage? The car isnt getting any gas unless u manually pump it by pressing the pedal.. So start there
Sometimes when a engine requires excessive revving and throttle to stay afloat its a fuel supply problem. A clogged filter for example can be overcome with excessive throttle that drives the fuel pressure up enough to force it through, but it will barely trickle at idle and stall.

Usually the dead give away for fuel pump is when someone complains they have to floor it as soon as it turns over or it will die right away.

I have a john deere 345 tractor starts fine but bogs down after I engage the mower and wont stay running

Although not a riding mower, when mine was doing that, dis-assembled, cleaned and then re-assembled the carburetor. Now doesn't shut off when engaging the mower. Also, if you left gas in the mower over the winter, try some of the additive, but that didn't work for mine.

Hi, I have a John Deere Z225 with an 18.5 Briggs

Although, this does sound like a fuel issue due to past experiences I want to say the problem might not be fuel at all, but before we go that route try one thing. On that particular model I believe the gas cap is vented, if so try running it till it acts up, then remove the gas cap for a moment and see if the engine returns to running normal, if not I believe your coil is going out. I have seen alot of these engines recently where the works fine but when the get hot they quit functioning all together or only function part of time which in your case would indicate why it is missing and fowling the plug. When these tend to do this after they cool back down they function properly again until they get heated up again. I hope this helps you.

Could be the throttle position sensor, or low fuel pressure.
