Wont stay running, give it gas wont rev up and stalls. then, one day it will be fine, next, same thing. Starts right back up, then immediately stalls. changed filter, no help
Could be something floating around but did you fuel it one day and not the other try and run it with the gas cap off there is a vent on the cap that gets plugged
I narrowed it down to the front bleeder on the hydraulic pump under radiated. I turned it and engine slowed down and then raised it back up and engIne revved up. Engine power back, hydraulics are so so. Perhaps I have to bleed it longer?
I need to find the location of the priority valve, because it must be sticking. Does anyone have a diagram of its location? 84 John Deere 410b turbo 4x4

This problem sounds like you may not be getting fuel. This tractor may have a fuel shut of solenoid in the carb float bowl. if this is the case... after then engine warms up and the solenoid gets hot it may have a open in the coil and will not open the needle valve in the carb until it cools off. Easy way to check this is when it does not start for you turn the ign key on to run and then back off you should here a clicking sound if the solenoid is working. If you dont hear a clicking sound the solenoid is probably bad... you can prove this by waiting for it to cool off and trying the same thing if you hear the solenoid valve actuating then the solenoid is bad

2 problems are common with this machine. One is the earlier machines had bad placement of the fuel line at the tank causing it to get pinched off and restrict fuel flow.It may get pinched at the very top of tank where line starts or between very rear of tank and frame.2nd problem is with the decompression setting of the valves causing engine to have too much compression at start up.Set your valves when piston is a 1/4 inch past top-dead-center.Set your intakes at .004.

Try changeing the hydrolic and transmission filters, also recheck the fluid level.Check the fluid level with all cylinders retracted and if it is overfull then drain it to the top of the full line.

could be bad gas, but it sounds like a choke problem. did it sit over the winter with less than a half tank of gas in it. try putting some rubbing alcohol in the fuel or draining the tank and disconnecting the gas line so you can drain the gas out of the carb. also check the gap of the spark plug and make sure that is correct. when was the last time there was fresh oil put in. also check the air filter, it could be full of dirt.
Testimonial: "Thanks for the ideas. I will try your suggestions. Tractor used for snow blowing during the winter and gas did not stay in it long. Good ideas!"

From the rear of machine look at the top left of fuel tank for the fuel line.Where line comes out of tank see if it is pinched where it goes down between frame and tank, grab line and see if it moves freely. If that is OK loosen fuel cap after 10 minutes of run time to see if your vent hole in cap is working. These are 2 common problems for the L series mowers.

Is there a screen that could be clogged?
Thank you. I removed the cap and it stalled right out. I put it back on, and about an hour later I tried it would at least run but not rev up. This happened before. Then it was working perfectly. Now, it's doing it again.
