You might have what is called "memory'. If you continue to replace the phone on it's charger after each call the battery will "think" it's empty, giving you s short charge time. Next time you replace the batteries (rechargeable) FULLY charge them then leave the phone off the charger until you go to bed at night.
This feature is country dependent and may not appear in some countries. If you have subscribed to the voicemail service from your local service provider, icon turns on when you have a new message in your mailbox. After you have accessed to all the new messages, icon will turn off automatically. If you find that the message waiting indication cannot be turned off by the network, you can still turn off the message waiting indication with your phone by the following step :
In idle mode, if voice mail waiting icon is on, long press the redial key to turn off the voice mail waiting icon. Once you choose to delete the message waiting indication, all the other handsets registered to the same base station will turn off the message waiting indication accordingly.
Make sure no phone is on the base. Bring unregistered phone to the base. Find the handset locater button. Press menu > advanced set > registration > base 1. When it requests a pin enter your pin 0000 BUT DO NOT HIT MENU YET. Hold the handset locator button ON THE BASE for 5 sec. then press MENU on the phone. It should register.
The blinking LED also indicates a missed call. From the main stand-by screen; Press the up arrow (which says CID short for Caller Identification), then menu. You should now be in the call list. Scroll through the list making sure to view all calls with the word NEW next to them. You can also press menu in the call list then choose "delete all" to erase the entire list.

You can get a PDF of the manual online. Go to www.philips.com/support, enter your model number, select the right one from the list. A page comes up with info about your model. Choose User Manuals.
I copied this link, but I don't know if it will work: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&cat=CORDLESS_PHONES_CA&sct=DIGITAL_CORDLESS_PHONES_SU&grp=PHONES_GR&session=20080119144138_89.83.85.31&ctn=CD4453S/05&mid=Link_UserManuals&hlt=Link_UserManuals
