No luck hooking video camera up to TV - no picture

HI Guys Trying to view some old footage o our TV from our Canon MV630i. Cord is plugged into the AV/headphone socket on the front of the camera and the other three plugs (red, white and yellow) are plugged into the AV input on the TV. Correct AV channel is selected but when pressing play on the camera we get a picture on the camera but not on the TV. Any ideas?

Thanks Daniel for the info. TV looks like it's NTSC but any ideas how to find out what the camcorder is (PAL or NTSC). Doesn't mention it in the user manual. If it helps the camera was purchased in Australia.

Have u checked to see if the camera is PAL or NTSC? If your TV is one and the camera is the Other, then chances are you will not get a picture.

On my cannon digital video camcorder ( model MV730i) i am trying to play back some footage i have taken but on the view finder (and also on my computer when i transfer footage over) the picture is coming...

Possibly dirty head and/or dirty tape.Maybe even wear-out tape,too.
But the worst scenario would be faulty or damaged head, which would be not worth repair it.

Unable to video programmes off the new TV.

TV have several inputs you must take notice of which input you hook your video player to (IE: component 1, component2 dvd, etc) the tv must be set to that input to view.

Black screen?

Is this a Canon MV600/630/650 series by any chance?

Faulty CCD, I'm afraid! :(

Good new though.:)

If it is a Canon DV camera and was manufactured between 2002-05, you are in luck (if you're in the UK)
