HP Pavillion dv2000 is not detecting the network cable for lan

It is not detecting the cable for internet and in Manage Network connections for LAN the status is Network cable unplugged when it is not unplugged. It stopped working all of a sudden after a HP update. It is a windows vista os. I think the ethernet controller is Marvel Yukon.
Any help is appreciated.

Its always show at the the monitor the " A network cable is unplugged".

If you are connecting to the Internet using a wireless connection and your LAN card in the computer does not have a LAN cable connecting it to a hub or router then you will get a message "A network cable is unplugged".
If you don't use a wireless connection and you only connect to the your network/Internet then the problem is either the LAN cable has come loose in the computer's LAN card or at the router or the LAN cable is faulty.

My dell lan card is not working,i cannot connect to internet.

Either the LAN card is faulty or the LAN driver is not installed and/or not configured properly or the LAN cable is faulty.
Check Device Manager to see if the LAN driver is installed, working and enabled. If not then re-install the LAN card driver.
If the LAN driver won't install or detect the LAN card then it maybe faulty and needs to be replaced.
Try a different LAN cable.
Is all the LEDs on in the modem?
Try rebooting the modem (power it off for 30 secs and power it up again).

Wireless connection 2 says its not connected

Yep. Plug the ethernet cable into the computer. Reset the modem AFTER you plug in the ethernet cable. If it still cannot come online then go to your control panel, network connections (xp) and right click on Local Area Connection (LAN). Go to properties, then Internet Protocol, highlight and click on properties below that. It should be obtaining an IP and DNS automatically unless you know you have a static IP (most dont). Close those two windows and right click on the LAN again. Disable. right click again and enable. It should do it. Vista... Control Panel, network and sharing center, manage network connection, then do the LAN the same way you do in XP

Ethernet not work

Check in the Device manager to see if all the devices are enable and working.
The one with a yellow ? against that device requires a driver installation.
Is the LAN device OK?
How do you intend to setup your LAN, is it for Internet access or a home network?
I need more information on your problem, together with error messages.

Will not reconize ethernet cable

Please ensure the following:

1. Make sure you use the LAN port.
2. Ensure the cable is in good condition. Try using new cable.
3. Ensure you installed proper network card driver.
4. Ensure the network card using correct link speed (100Mbps).
5. Try switching the link speed to Auto, if you're not sure.

These are the basics. If possible, try installing the latest firmware for your network card. Normally, downloadable from the manufacture's site.

Maha

Networking 2 computers

Yes you can make a simple Network between 2 PCs ....but ....you need what is called a "crossover ethernet cable" or "xover". A standard RJ45 ethernet cable WILL NOT work.

You also need to make sure both Pcs are in the same Workgroup and have unique computer names.... as is standard in Networking.

XP on HP Pavilion dv2000

For the laptop with no hard drive detected, this is most likely because Windows XP does not recognize SATA drives by default, which the laptop most likely has. To solve this, you will need to enter the BIOS setup utility (most likely Delete or F1 on startup). From there, you will need to change the drive mode to Compatibility mode. I'm not sure where this would be, but if you check in your laptop manual, you can probably find this somewhere.

For the 2519TU, download and install this for the LAN driver: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30001-30500/sp30264.exe it should work just fine.

Good luck!
