My Unit Will Not Power Up

My unit was working fine for a few months. Then one day I went to take it out of my backpack and it wouldn't fire up! I bought it used with no charger and had been using a universal power adapter to charge it. Had no problems. To troubleshoot I ordered the USB charger and the actual charger designed for the unit with no sucess! Can I get a little help? Please!! II live in the Los Angeles area and am looking to put my unit in for repair/diagnostic! Please help me to power up!!

My AV700 wont start up either. It has been working fine for 5 months and now nothing. I bought new power adapter but still nothing. Archos seems to be ignoring my requests for assistance aswell as I live in Australia and they dont support products here (even if I send it OS they cannot guarantee I will get it back).....

Not sure if this is a solution for you. I had a problem with the DC power input jack on the player going bad. The batteries would no longer charge. I bought an extra battery and a USB charger from ebay. Now I'm good for two battery cycles and it works again. Although it will never charge it's own batteries or work off of AC power it does still work.

How do I restart my airconditioning unit after a power outage?

If there is a panel you can open at the A/C. There may be a tiny reset button on the circuit board. Just press it and it should come ALIVE!

Truck broke down no fire.. replaced coil, ing mod,cap rotor.. got fire truck runs... truck down again no fire

I recently had a similar problem. I drive a 94 ram 1500 with the 3.9 6 cylinder. When I replaced the coil it started right up but then cut out and wouldn't start. So I wiggled the wire that plugs into the coil and tried to start it and it fired up again and the next day it wouldn't start. My problem was were the wires connected to the plug came loss. I went to the junk yard found any ram truck from 94 to 01 with either gas engine 3.9-5.2-5.9 and cut the plug off with decent amount of wire and installed it on mine and problem was solved. I also had a catalytic converter problem about 3 months after that was similar but it would start right up and run in neutral fine but when it gear it would bog down and eventually stall. Good luck.

Adapter has bricked. Initially it just wouldn't light up, showing a break in the power to the laptop, after a few days of rest it seemed to work as normal. Light went dark again after a day of use....

Chances are it's just a failing electrolytic capacitor in the power unit.
Normally I would say to simply purchase another unit online from EVER Corp. online, but if you have the electronics knowledge, you can probably fix it yourself for a few pennies.
look for capacitors that are bulging at the top or bulging/leaking electrolyte at the bottom.
Replace the capacitors with ones of equal uF rating and equal or higher voltage rating.

Opening the power unit itself of course is an adventure as they are sonically welded, and you'll have to tape or glue it back together if you do manage to get it apart.

You may simply want to look locally for ANY power adapter that is the SAME voltage, and EQUAL OR GREATER current. (it helps if the connector is the same too, but you can always put the old connector on the new power supply)

In other words, don't replace a 16V adapter with a 19V adapter, but you CAN replace an adapter rated at 2.0A with one rated at 3.5A as long as the voltages match.

Freezer works, fridge doesn't cool

Probably excessive ice in the condensor. Likely defrost thermostat or defrost heater problem.

What happens is excessive ice keeps airflow from the refrigerator part of the unit.

Protect error on agv8500

Hi there. I have the same unit. A darn nice piece of hardware. A couple of months back I noticed my cooling fan making noise. A few days ago I got the "PROTECT" message and the unit wouldn't power up. I turned it off for three days and it started playing again. Now I'm pretty sure it went into protect mode because it overheated. I just tried finding a Teac replacement fan and didn't see one on the web. My solution will be to adapt a small computer-type fan onto it to keep things cool. It works too well to let it die! Good Luck, Gborchers. GROGSTER

Garmin c530 Streetpilot

I just called tech support at 1-800-800-1020 and I was told that the battery on the unit may be so low that it won't power on even with a power source. The unit actually uses more power than it's taking in from the car charger. I was told to plug it into the computer using the USB cable and give it a few hours to replenish the battery. Apparently it should be plugged into the computer ever so often to keep the battery from getting too low.
