Even though I bought a new battery, this camera (Fuji Finepix 450) will not recharge. I love the camera and do not want to get rid of it. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
I didn't really solve the "problem". I plugged the charger into a different electrical outlet and PRESTO, the camera began to charge. The outlet I had been using, malfunctioned and had to be replaced.
Easy solution this time.

It sounds like you have bad batteries. I have had rechargeables that have suddenly done the same thing. I have learned that buying really cheap ones doesn't work out. If you buy a good branded set, I think you will find that they are much better. :)
Parts or a new cradle are hard to find. I don't think Fuji makes them any more, although, depending on where you live, that country's distribution source may still have stock. What we sell our customers is a small charger which recharges the battery outside of the camera. They are about $10 US and plug into the USB port on any computer.
I had this problem yesterday. I discharged and recharged several sets of batteries and the set I had the problem with continued to with the one shot problem the other sets workrd fine.
Mine had the same problem. I consulted http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/ and it said to use rechargeable batteries only. The entry claimed that alkaline batteries, even if they're brand new, don't have sufficient power for more than a few pictures and may not even be powerful enough to turn the camera on. I was dubious, but I tried putting in a pair of fully charged rechargeables and, by Gum, the camera was suddenly working again. So before junking the camera, try investing 20 bucks in a battery charger and a pair of AA rechargeables and see if that fixes it.
I think this is a general Fuji design fault in the camera circuitry. I have an older F455 which has exactly the same problem and I did the same - bought new batteries only to discover that didn't help.
The only solution is to spend even more money for a stand alone battery charger.
Sorry, no solution. Same problem here. I am very unhappy because initially it took great pictures. The first one I tried only worked a couple of days and I returned to store and they replaced. Second worked a couple of months and now immediately draws down power and won't work on new batteries. I was told to use NH-10 batteries (rechargeable). I did this from the beginning. Still won't hold charge.
