Dell inspiron 1150 wont power up the power light flashes green and batery light flashes orange but the fans or anything else wont work. [email protected]
You may have a burnt board or the input pin is bad, try wiggling the pin while it is plugged in to see if you can at least get the fans to start you obviously have a short of power in the power button area. You may want to try replacing the power button board for your model this may offer you a solution. If you take it in they can test it with a meter to make sure that this is the problem before a board issue is determined. It is difficult to diagnose this kind of things without the machine in front of me. My advice is to take it in and have the power investigated.
Just because the lighting on the battery is going and showing signs of life does not mean the power button is not bad or not getting the proper power to start the computer. It seems to me that the power button board is bad. Or the input cord pin may be shorted out and only supplying power to the mains but not the power button circuitry. Just a good guess!......John

The flashing battery light is an indication that the system is attempting to charge the battery. The orange light indicates a problem charging one of the battery cells. This usually means that the battery either needs to be recalibrated or replaced. To recalibrate the battery just use the system until the battery is dead, then recharge and repeat the process twice, after which time the battery should be recalibrated. If this doesn’t fix the flashing orange light then the battery may need to be replaced.
hope this helps

Norm.. Suffice to say these are a problem. Is it a P35 Adapter? If so look for a replacement and retry. If this does not help Check the CMOS battery voltage as crazy as it may seem but the Dell adapters are a little more complicated than a standard 2 wire output adapter. They have a 19V Feeder or main supply, The Negative or Ground as some people/techs call it as well as a 3.3V data circuit thats related to the Embedded controller chipset, BIOS and other circuits on the board. Also see if you can find a friend local with a known good working battery/adapter if you cannot afford or dont want to spend money on it. If all else fails yell back weve repaired a ton of these and they should have been included in the 5150/5160 Dell Class settlement in my opinion as they have a ton of similar components/issues..
Good Luck! Ken

That usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

it looks like the battery is defective. try reseat the battery while the power cord plug in to see if that help. if you remove the battery and leave the power cord plug in, the battery symbol indicator light will turn off. Time to order a replacement battery.

hi,
if you have tried both batteries with the same laptop and they are giving you the same error code, then it could very well be a motherboard problem, both the batteries cannot be bad, what you can do is try these batteries on some other compatible laptop model to check if they work fine there. Also try swapping the AC adapter as in both case you might be using the same Ac adapter, try using some other good known AC adapter as well.
Further queries are welcome
